#StampOutToolTheft
Just been out to price a job there in an original 1960s house. Wire outside socket and replace a few light switches. New board fitted last year, which took ‘half a day’, 1 bit of paper for ‘cert’, single insulated 10/16mm tails and most likely made up readings that’s just a quick
@MJDesign20_20 I can usually suss a new customer out in first few minutes of meeting them. Small things that can give away a difficult persona or a reluctance to part with money, which funnily enough only comes out once they have the advantage of you being in their debt
@MJDesign20_20 I feel sorry for the woman. She came across as a decent person, seems like a single parent, 2 kids, who’s paid good money for a job and been fobbed off. I’m going to help her out is some way, and if it needs rewired I can point her in the direction of some good contractors
@MisterF0z @switchlec@Adrianepdavey Experience tells me this will uncover a shitload of issues. She’s getting plastering done in near future tbh I don’t want to get involved in a rewire of an occupied house. Too much hassle for me as 1 man.
@contactelectri3 Yeah I think if they have the brass neck to leave a job like that, with a one sheet shit cert then I’d highly doubt they would come back n fix. I’m going to email the CPS, for customer sake and see what happens
@Adrianepdavey@megalecelectric They do look chunky joists to be fair 👍This highlights the benefits of us posting our work, we can always learn and improve from each other’s good ideas and also the odd mistakes that inevitably happen
@Adrianepdavey@megalecelectric The clipping and straight cables are to be admired 👍 Scottish building regs require 4x diameter of largest hole distance between holes, and holes only between 0.25-0.45 of joist span. I know this as I drilled them in the wrong place many years ago and NHBC reqd structural report
@switchlec@Adrianepdavey I now always EICR first, then allow half a day to change a board over. He’s took half a shift in total, just made up the readings and handed her a sheet of paper saying it doesn’t need rewired.
@switchlec Feel bad for the woman, she seems lovely but oblivious to what she should have received for a board change. There’s no way he’s tested IR and got >500 on all circuits on a house 40+ years old. I’m a bit wary of contacting the spark direct, I know @Adrianepdavey started getting
