This 150-180 metre wide corridor has been hacked through National Parks in the Snowy Mountains to construction giant 150 transmission towers to transport electricity to Snowy 2.0 to push water 27km up hill.

Snowy 2.0 doesn’t create energy, it’s destroys it. Because for every 1 unit of energy that it "creates" - it uses 50% MORE energy to pump the water up the hill.

And after originally being budgeted at $2.3 billion, the latest cost estimate is $5.4 billion - which gets paid for by higher electricity bills in the years to come.

It's time to end the slush funds for net zero.

Within the hour the Senate will vote on an Appropriation Bill which includes almost $6 billion in unallocated funding.

While some of this is to ensure continuity of Government across the election, there is a whopping $3.5 billion allocated to the Department of Climate Change as “unallocated funds”.

This is clearly a net zero slush fund for handouts during the election campaign.

There is no justification for this expenditure at a time everyday Australians are struggling to pay their grocery bills.

Minister Bowen is continuing to burn through taxpayers money to keep his delusional net zero dream alive.

Now another $3.5 billion is hidden away without any explanation and without a mandate from the Senate or the Australian people.

My amendment to the bill will remove this funding and save taxpayers $3.5 billion.
