Philip Dwyer was told he wasn't wanted in Ballaghaderreen this evening. He was at a vigil held by local people in support of an alleged assault victim. The locals have genuine concerns over incidents in the town. But they don't want Dwyer anywhere near their town. Well done folks

Liam Kneafsey, @ADuggan and I conduct a survey experiment to test the effects of negative campaigning on voting intentions in Ireland. #STV is 🤯 but great to observe complex mechanisms behind NC!

Looking at the underlying numbers, the 'public' backing Kate Forbes over Swinney is driven almost solely by Tory voters. Not much of an electoral asset to appeal to a section of voters that will steadfastly never endorse the SNP or independence.
NEW: John Swinney is the preferred choice to replace Humza Yousaf as first minister among SNP voters, but the public back Kate Forbes in the role, according to new polling from Ipsos.
Both are seen as better picks than Anas Sarwar or Douglas Ross.
Killing a man for not speaking English in Ireland, while not one of these murderers has a word of Irish.

Aye, they're patriots alright, English patriots.
