I have a personal rule about not posting photos on my Instagram with filters or Photoshop. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good filter on TikTok or Snapchat. But I used to only post doctored photos, and choosing to post unedited ones has genuinely helped my mental health.

Just to be clear, digital literacy matters too. There are people with malicious intent online. That doesn’t mean I’m going to outsource my thinking to the internet or dislike someone just because 100,000 people tell me to. Critical thinking still applies.

I can’t stand people who act like not posting their opinions online makes them intellectually superior. Protecting your digital footprint only matters if you’re being outright bigoted, and it’s healthy to engage in conversations where you’re not always right.
