A new(ish) anion on the block for SMOM chemistry. Kris Altus’ latest on the organometallic chemistry of [B(O2C2(CF3)4)2]−. There is also a cautionary note about the toxicity of a starting material.

A squareplanar Ru(II) complex, that dehydropolymerizes amine boranes to selectively give high molecular BN-polymers at low (0.03 mol%) catalyst loadings and high ToF (250 s-1). And a hydroxy-hydride as the species formed in the induction period as a bonus! https://t.co/benCSUFjaS

Happy to formally announce that I will be joining the @dasoglab this coming fall as a @KillamTrusts Postdoctoral Fellow to continue my journey in materials chemistry and sustainability! Thank you to all my mentors and those who have helped me along the way!
Boron Complexes of Tridentate Acyl Pyridylhydrazones by Paul J. Ragogna, Joe B. Gilroy, and co-workers (@westernuchem, @GilroyGroup, @RagognaGroup) #openaccess https://t.co/YetdU7TwS0
Thrilled to have been invited to share how my journey as a chemist has been influenced by my cerebral palsy, and some steps I feel we need to take to keep improving! Great mentors and a willingness to listen and adapt has been paramount for me.
Congratulations to our very own Professor Joe Gilroy @GilroyGroup receiving the Edward G. Pleva Award for Excellence in Teaching. #Westernu top honour for teaching! Thanks for all you do towards our educational mission! @westernuScience
Excited to be able to share my story and experiences! Great mentors have been crucial in my getting to where I am today, but that hasn't been without obstacles. Hoping to motivate and support the next generation!
Check out my first author paper from my PhD on UV induced hydrophosphination of vinylcyclopropane towards phosphine chalcogenides. It's online now. @CanBlackSci@BlackInChem@westernuchem

@DrEllisCrawford @RagognaGroup @GilroyGroup@westernuchem We haven't considered such a thing, but that's a neat suggestion. What would you have in mind to stabilize those complexes - something exogenous or built into the ligand?
My #RSCPoster entry features work from the @RagognaGroup and @GilroyGroup at @westernuchem. It involves the synthesis of heterocyclic phosphenium cations, their coordination chemistry, and a fundamental look into their structure and bonding.

@D_Roberts95 @RagognaGroup @GilroyGroup@westernuchem That's a neat idea! Haven't seen anything like that or considered it, but it could certainly make for a unique ligand system.
@AndryjBorys @RagognaGroup @GilroyGroup@westernuchem Great question! While previous work in our group has shown that boron complexes of pyridylhydrazone ligands can support radical cations, we've not tried for any P(II) radicals. An interesting idea for future exploration though.
Hey everyone!
Come check out some plasma utilization for #MLDep of phosphines and organic crosslinkers. Please make sure to ask any questions, looking for to it!
