Today we gathered in community with partner organizations to uplift the legacy of #Medicaid60, the 60th Anniversary of the landmark program that to this day, provides millions of Americans with access to healthcare.
Known as Medi-Cal in California, this program is a lifeline to the children, parents, day-laborers, and so many more in our state. We celebrate the 60th anniversary and also acknowledge that we have more work to do.
For 60 years, Medicaid has proudly delivered care for millions of Americans. And through Medi-Cal in California, 15 million residents get the care they deserve so they can thrive. This moment is about more than a milestone, it’s a reminder that the future of healthcare is in our hands. Let’s continue the legacy of helping those who need it most and stand firmly committed to quality health care for all. Because health care is a human right and everyone deserves to live with dignity, opportunity, and hope.
Meet Natalie, an #OrangeCounty mom who relies on CA's #Medicaid program to care for her special needs son. If Congress cuts $880 billion from the program, children like Jacob will be the ones who suffer. #FightForOurHealth#HandsOffMedicaid
Here's something California Republicans don't want you to know: hospitals in their districts heavily rely on Medi-Cal funding. So why are they in favor of cutting $880 billion in health care, risking shutting down hospitals their constituents rely on?
“I’m here asking to the politicians to see us as a human being.” Cutting Medi-Cal will devastate communities. That’s why we are asking Congress to #fightforourhealth and say NO to health care cuts. We are not waste, fraud, or abuse. @repdavidvaladao#disabilityrights
A 21-year-old white supremacist man armed with a Palmetto State Armory AR-15 rifle with a swastika drawn on & a Glock handgun shot and killed three Black people at a Dollar General store in a predominantly Black neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida.
Our country’s lax gun laws enabled this horrific tragedy. It is far too easy in America for white supremacists to arm themselves with military-grade weaponry and carry out targeted, deadly violence.
Nineteen-year-old Anolt “AJ” Laguerre, Jr. was a “very bright" young man who had recently graduated from high school, according to his father. He was working as a cashier at Dollar General when his life was taken. "I should not have to bury my son," AJ’s father said. "He's too young for that. He's just trying to live."
Jerrald De'Shaun Gallion, 29, was a devoted father and restaurant manager who was looking forward to spending the weekend with his 4-year-old daughter, Je Asia. “We’re trying to decide how to tell his one and only daughter that he’s not coming back,” said Je Asia’s grandmother.
