@Miss_Snuffy Besides that, they have already been in school for hours. We just can't assume that each student has the same situation. Why should we not give them the opportunity for down time so that they might be set up for success for the following long day.

@Miss_Snuffy Depending on the age range that we are looking at, there are students who go straight from school to a work shift. Some of these kids take care of younger siblings while their parents work a night shift. Some kids do not go home to an environment where homework can be worked on.
