Absence of Rashid, Ibrahim & Zia might have forced ACB to add some international experience to the test squad ignoring some of the proven domestic performers. Azmat has been given the job to fill the allrounders' spot more so because Rashid is not around. The choice of spinners indicates that the think tank is keen to take the batting deep which in a way is the best bet considering the bowling is so inexperienced. The possibility of Rahmanullah Zadran making the XI depends on whether Afghanistan decides to go with 4 or 5 bowlers including Omarzai. #AFGvIND #OnlyTest #Mullanpur #NewChandigarh
After receiving the official test status, Afghanistan has neglected red-ball cricket due to commercial constraints. With a weak domestic structure, test cricket can't survive. The domestic giants of first class cricket fall flat against formidable oppositions which is an indication enough to understand how much gap is evident b/w domestic & international test cricket. First class monsters like Abdul Malik, Bahir Shah & Shahid Kamal haven't been able to establish themselves after getting quite a few opportunities. Darwish Rasooli is still waiting for his chance after scoring consistently in first class events. The absence of Rashid Khan & Ibrahim Zadran will surely dent the performance of this team against India. Rahmat Shah is coming after a long break straightaway in this match. Skipper Hashmat is vulnerable against short balls & when there is some movement on the turf his defence cracks up pretty easily. Just to give some international flavor to the side, inexperienced guy like Atal will make the playing XI. I'm not a great believer of closed camps. The think tank has suddenly unearthed some hidden treasure in Rahmanullah Zadran which will be tested for sure if he makes into the playing XI. Gurbaz & Omarzai are expected to add some spice to the side. Carrying 3 wicket keepers makes no sense at all. If Afsar is their premier keeper then Alikhil should've been in Kabul & not with this team. If the batting unit looks like chaos, then the bowling unit is definitely inexperienced. Although Zia Sharifi has got some success against Zimbabwe in the last test match, Bilal Sami is pretty haywire with his lines. Saleem Safi is also pretty untested at this level. The status of Qais Ahmad is that he can't land 6 back to back balls in good areas. Although Nangyalai is pretty accurate, they might again go with Sharafuddin whom I don't think has got any future in any form of international cricket. In my opinion, Mullanpur will not support spinners too much. 3 pacers including Omarzai should be the fast bowling unit along with one spinner preferably Kharoti who can bat sensibly. Malik & Hashmat can roll their arms over for sometime if the bowling unit needs some rest. The ideal target of this game should be to bat sensibly & try to stretch the game as much as possible preferably to at least 4 days. My XI will be: Malik, Atal, Rahmat, Hashmat, Gurbaz, Rahmanullah, Afsar, Azmat, Nangyal, Saleem & Sharifi. #INDvAFG #OnlyTest @RGurbaz_21 π¦π« π
Is this an indication that the upcoming season of Shpageeza will be held at the Ghazi Amanullah stadium in Jalalabad? I sincerely wish this flagship tournament to come out from the capital city of Afghanistan this year as that tiny little ground of Kabul shouldn't host such a popular domestic event anymore. @MirwaisAshraf16@NaseebAFGcric@SNaseemSadaat π¦π« π
@acb_190 To ask tough questions, sports journos in Afghanistan needs to first understand the game. Many of them still get goose bumps of Karim Sadiq & Mohammad Shahzad for their unorthodox slogging. They're pretty much stuck a decade back when Afghans were rising through associate level.
ACB has announced the 15 member squad for the upcoming triangular one day series involving Sri Lanka & India. Most of these bowlers are not in great economical form which is an area of concern. Bahir Shah also does not look in rhythm. The batters have got all their stakes lined up in this series as 3-4 guys will seriously look to impress the selectors through their performances. #OneDayTriSeries π¦π« π
If this news is to be believed, each @ILT20Official squad will have to keep 4 Afghan cricketers mandatory in their overseas category. Well this could be a return of goodwill gesture by the @EmiratesCricket towards @ACBofficials as the latter will be hosting @theaplt20 henceforth in UAE with mutual cooperation. π¦π« π
ILT20 makes it compulsory for teams to pick minimum of 7 Associate players in their squad (4 from the UAE, 1 from Saudi Arabia, 1 from Kuwait, and 1 from the rest of the Associate nations).
Additionally, out of the 11 Full Member players, at least 4 must be from Afghanistan and at least 1 must be from Ireland.
This is really great for Associates and lower FMs like Afghanistan & Ireland
@ILT20Official π
@acb_190@t20tracker ACB is hosting APL in UAE from this year onwards where the latter will earn revenues from the league in partnership. It looks like a return of goodwill gesture by the ECB towards ACB by inducting 4 π¦π« of their players in every ILT squad.
@acb_190@ACBofficials@LPLT20@OfficialSLC It's a short tournament. Will end before the Ireland series. By the time GSL starts, SCL might be at its concluding stage. Nabi might have taken a calculative decision. His T20I career might almost be over. The board may not push him too much at this age.
So Shpageeza is clashing with LPL & this is the first afghan pullout from the Lankan league. Poor Kandy Royals would definitely be irked by this late withdrawal but it is quite clear that ACB has scuffled all its players from their freedom of hopping from one league to the other by skipping domestic commitments. There could be others who would now be pulling off from the LPL. In a similar way Farooqi was recalled from his county Glamorgan after he had appeared for a couple of matches in the Blast to attend the ongoing Regional List A matches. Players like Nabi, Omarzai & Noor also had the option to participate in LPL but their names did not appear in the final shortlisted draft. It seems they were communicated prior about the consequences. @RGurbaz_21@IZadran18@GbNaib@Mujeeb_R88@fazalfarooqi10@ZahirZk7575
Emerging star batter Khalid Taniwal ends his 2026 Regional List A campaign with a patient fifty. National pillars of batting Gurbaz & Ibrahim have closely witnessed his game from the other end & I wish they have been convinced enough by his talent which might help Khalid to get inducted into the national setup sooner rather than later. #KhalidTaniwal #FutureStar #EmergingPlayer #RegionalListA2026 π¦π« π
This is the end of @rashidkhan_19 in 2026 @IPL. His last spell of this year brought dividends of 2/25. Accumulated 21 wickets at an economy of 9.07 which indicates that he had some bad days in between some good ones. Overall getting better. #GTvRCB π¦π« π
So far Khalid has an excellent 100% strike rate of converting fifties into hundreds in List A cricket. This ton is even more special because it has been scored while chasing. Taniwal in his short List A career has made rapid strides by knocking 3 centuries in 11 matches at a healthy strike rate of around 90. The talent & the stats indicate that he is a must pick for the upcoming one day tri-series in Sri Lanka. #RegionalListA2026 π¦π« π
Apart from players like Ibrahim Zadran, Javid Ahmadzai, Sohail Khan, Allahnoor, Mohibullah Zurmati the rest of the lot are absolutely shady inclusions. #RegionalListA2026 π¦π« π

@SayedSa11267443 Being good is just not good enough. Will have to justify their selections as & when they get opportunities. I can name a few who could've been a better bet at this level like Haroon Khan, Khalid Ahmadzai, Mahboob Taskin, Uzair, Osman Sadaat, Rahimullah Zurmati etc.
