We need an academy like this. As Nigeria's capacity to produce FPV drones continues to grow, we'll need a large cadre of highly trained drone operators if these systems are to be adopted on a large scale by the military.
The drone landscape in the region has changed. In Mali, the Africa Corps has shifted its strategy to primarily operate FPV drones from military bases, relying on these unmanned strikes to degrade insurgent groups like JNIM rather than engaging in direct ground combat.

Iran must strategically Reorient itself in Peacetime
For several weeks I have been noting that Iran proved to be a highly capable strategist during the war.
Yet since accepting the truce, it has been caught in a succession of episodes orchestrated by Pentagon strategists, episodes in which it has so far failed to establish a coherent narrative.
The weakness has shown itself in leaked drafts of peace proposals, slow responses, contradictory statements, and events that at times even contradict positions held by both sides.
There is no actual peace agreement or Memorandum of Understanding. What exists is merely a shared recognition by both sides that continuing the war at this moment is not a good deal, and that both need time to regroup.
Peace may have been a bad deal for Iran, but we must also recognize that Tehran faced serious logistical and military problems of its own. Iran had bet heavily that, in any scenario, it would maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.
That is not occurring. By opening the strait, Iran intended to keep its routes secure, especially since parts of it remain mined. However, another route is already being developed and actively used by ships: the route via Oman.
This effectively removes Iran’s control over the strait. But the Pentagon’s game does not end there. Today Iran attacked a ship using this new route, acting precisely according to the American plan: to portray Iran as a global terrorist actor.
During the war, why didn’t Iran close the other strait? Because that area was not a war zone, and the first Houthi strikes would have been perceived by all of Europe as a terrorist act against global supply routes, something Iran deliberately chose to avoid. Such a move would almost certainly have brought more NATO members into Trump’s project.
Now, by striking a civilian vessel in Omani waters, Iran is positioning itself exactly as it wisely avoided during the conflict. This is the broader plan, one that goes far beyond the military dimension.
It is necessary to establish Iran as a concrete global threat, since relying solely on Israeli arguments has not worked well, Israel does not enjoy a positive reputation.
We are watching the entire project to isolate Iran being rebuilt in real time, with a significant portion of U.S., French, British, and other allied forces still present in the region.
Macron even deployed amphibious invasion forces and called them “peace forces.” Really? How exactly?

Years ago, Nigeria demonstrated its ability to develop FPV kamikaze drones when EPAIL unveiled its prototype models (pictured).
In 2026, that capacity has increased significantly, with companies like Uniccon Group launching Africa’s first Integrated Kamikaze System, the UNIKAM-Series and an AI and high-speed Loitering Munition which reaches speeds of 210 plus km/h.
Considering our security imperatives, it's quite surprising we have not adopted the lessons from Ukraine and exploited this system, particularly given our indigenous production capacity.
Terrorist groups rarely operate within densely populated urban centers. Their camps, hideouts, and enclaves are generally well known. Thousands of loitering munitions could be deployed to search designated areas and engage identified targets.
Terrorists on motorcycles that venture into major highways or attempt to carry out roadside abductions would be among the easiest targets for such drones to detect and engage.
