As winter weather approaches, we must be mindful of our salt usage. More than 5 million tonnes of road salt is used in Canada each year. This salt dissolves into sodium and chloride ions and washes away into our storm drains, seeping into our water bodies and groundwater sources.
A groundbreaking ceremony on Nov 28 has marked the start of excavation of a 1 km river valley, a natural spillway, and new mouth for the Don River. TRCA is pleased to be part of the Port Lands Flood Protection project that will provide flood protection for 290 hectares of land!
