lol 💯 put one up in his chin (wait for him to chill or keep talking), talking still (because it’s Texas and he got hit once already for a reason lol): point to the scoreboard, a ball or two “outside”, 3-2, catcher sets up inside, 4-seam into the rib cage on ball 4. Whoops 🤷♂️ I missed. Little stretchhh out pointing at the scoreboard again to “loosen it up.” Then I better get the next hitter out because I’m not trying to hurt my team, blow bullpen arms, or let a comeback happen. Old school baseball is about principle, the best.
This is awesome.
Clemson baseball has a tradition of players going up in the stands during the 4th inning to shake hands with Veterans.
Today, on opening day, the Army baseball team joined in with them

Fair point. The rest of this isn’t meant towards you, just the dynamic in general with my frustration of the industry:
Getting better is to be expected. It’s why I love sophomores. Development in college, out the window. They don’t have time, their jobs are on the line, they are competing with NIL dollars, I could go on for days. It’s a business now. Sadly, while I recruit them as student athletes (basically, are you employable? What makes you different?) they are employed athletes now. Or trying to get there.
And sports are meant to procure education, build character traits that teach you all about life, relationships, jobs etc etc.
Because the truth is, very very very few make it, and what (good) scouts should be doing is identifying, understanding, and then procuring those kids who make society (as well as athletic programs better). Asking themselves: can I even, then how can I best help you - should I decide to help you - for the next 40 years, not the next year or two.
My frustrations aren’t with you. It’s with kids and parents who have 2.7 GPAs, throw 87, terrible mechanics, an enormously high SO % and think they are going to play two ways at FSU. Gtfo, next.
It’s not dead, completely. I live scout in person for months. I pass up 95% I scout. I’ve seen what looks fantastic on paper turn into walking out after one inning - that’s because I was trying to be polite and knew I should’ve walked out after warm ups but was like, eh I’m here. It’s only fair I give it a chance. Seen a ton of scouts in Grand Park, IN too, to be fair. I don’t like analytics (personally) and I can’t get all the intangibles from paper (even though I’m old school and evaluate with paper lol). But a lot of it is dead, for sure. Not me though. At least someone still out here I guess is the point lol!
College programs absolutely do not develop anymore. This is not 5 years ago…transfer portal, JUCO. Can you play right now? (Which is determined by do you have experience playing at (x) level?). Transfer portal: How many metrics are included in the portal? How many kids are in there currently, today? What % of athletes successfully transfer out of there? If an athlete does not graduate (because most don’t go professional), which school does that GSR % reflect back upon? The original school or the transfer school 🤔?
Please explain why he’s “insane” for pointing out a very blunt truth that very, very few understand? I by no means know everything and I love to learn, with logic and reasoning. All day, love to learn…
@OutOfTheVines Looks like Owen Ayers and Michael Carico need to climb up that prospect rank…I think Ayers is in the top 10 or 15 though. But great stuff 👌 super smart approach. I like this guy @OutOfTheVines pay attention, people.
Happy Father’s Day, to all the good fathers out there! To those who have a good one, be grateful, thankful, and show love.
To those who don’t, understand we suffer from a fatherless pandemic in this country. My heart breaks for you, but make it a point to be better; you’ll never regret it.
For Jesus said, “you will know my disciples by their love for one another.” Show love. Have mercy. Be thankful. For we all have one true Father. God Bless!
@todd_grainger@CoachTKort That actually happens, and what else are we supposed to make of it 🤷♂️ you just told me at (very) least three things…so I keep it moving.
