1. It is poor leadership in a pandemic to spend public money to shut our bike share into storage, stranding thousands, when #cycling is recommended as a safe, low-cost, & active way to move around cities during #COVID19. https://t.co/IirlnvVUqR
@shanpowerlifts @tomflood1 In January of this year, she said that 'maybe' 100 people use downtown bike-lanes for the purpose of 'begging for money'. Utter cluelessness.
@SamCraggsCBC One of the reasons I moved to Hamilton rather than commute from afar was on the promise of Sobi (and LRT). At the time, it seemed like a city with vision and ambition...
@SamCraggsCBC I've used it as a transit connection after using GO and to pop downtown for the occassional work related meeting. It's a huge loss to the city.
At a time when cities around the world are upping their game to encourage cycling as a healthy and low-cost transportation option, Hamilton votes against temporarily supporting the popular @SoBiHamilton bikeshare. What disappointing and embarrassing lack of vision and leadership.
I am so embarrassed to be a member of #HamOnt City Council right now.
Make no mistake - the majority of Council killed @SoBiHamilton out of pure spite. They voted it down because it is important to the wrong people - they know you care about it & know it would hurt.
Shameful.
