Official Twitter account of the Office of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison. Helping people afford their lives and live with dignity, safety & respect.
To my Hindu and South Asian neighbors in Minnesota – know that I and millions of Minnesotans stand with you. As I do each and every day, I will use all the tools of this office to help you live with dignity, safety, and respect.
Our South Asian and Hindu neighbors are hurting, thanks to an ongoing rise in hateful, bigoted rhetoric toward their communities. Sunday’s failed mass shooting at Sri Venkateswara Swami (Balaji) Temple in IL reveals just how real and terrifying the problem has become.
It is tragic that those bedrock values remain under threat, but I am heartened by the strength and resilience of our communities, and by the tireless, courageous work happening every day to bring us closer to our nation’s stated ideals.
CharacterAI was dangerous long before its bankruptcy. Its chatbots have been credibly accused of exposing young people to inappropriate content, or simulating sex with child accounts. I won't let the harm continue by leaving Minnesotans' data unprotected.
Another example of the dangers of unregulated AI: CharacterAI has collected untold amounts of personal data on Minnesotans, including our kids. Now that they've filed for bankruptcy, I've asked the court to protect that sensitive data in any sale. https://t.co/VZW95tMK1h
The Epstein Files Transparency Act gives victims the right to records about the harms they suffered, closes loopholes that DOJ has used to stop disclosure, & gives states the authority to sue DOJ for its delays. I'm proud to back these changes for transparency and accountability.
Jeffrey Epstein's crimes were beyond heinous, but we still don't have the full picture - Trump's DOJ has dragged its heels at every turn. I'm supporting a new bill that would state AGs more power to deliver the transparency the American people deserve. https://t.co/obOHJuobU8
No Minnesotan should have to choose between paying their utility bills and putting food on the table. Small businesses have enough pressures without worrying about rising utility costs. My testimony at the Public Utility Commission: https://t.co/vds8vNeiVe
In Minnesota, we take pride in our democracy. Whether you’re voting early in person, by mail, or visiting your polling place on Election Day, it’s important that you know your rights to vote safely. Remember: Voting starts TODAY and runs through Nov. 3! https://t.co/hfvkXzKtx1
I repeatedly said Christian Castro would not escape justice in Minnesota. Today, he began facing justice here. Greg Abbott has gotten away with nothing — except turning Texas into a sanctuary state for violent criminals. https://t.co/7mkMOqUXQj
Good news out of D.C.: The Trump-backed Clarity Act failed in the Senate. Yesterday a coalition of 16 AGs and I came out against the bill - it would make it harder to stop crypto fraud. I’m going to keep fighting to protect Minnesotans from crypto scams. https://t.co/59bu6Y1fsM
These are just more examples of Trump doing whatever he can to protect his fossil fuel buddies—at the expense of the environment, communities, and even private businesses. I hope he gets the message loud and clear: We won’t stand for it.
It’s so absurd that it’s hard to believe: a 63-year-old Michigan coal plant was set to shut down, with its owners, the community, and defenders of the environment all in agreement. But on the eve of the plant’s closure, the Trump administration ordered the owners to keep it open.
With the support of my office, AG Dana Nessel also took the administration to court. And wouldn’t you know it, their claims of an “energy emergency” that required the plant stay open didn’t stand up to scrutiny: https://t.co/KEmTBazoTo
I've said all along that Christian Castro would face justice in Minnesota. And now that he’s finally turned himself in in Texas, he soon will.
