@JoeBiden The comments on this thread…..are exactly why most social media has become useless. The post is, of course, politically motivated but the responses just show how dark people’s thoughts have become. In fact, why am I bothering to comment here?
@YIMBY_Princeton I would offer that the challenge with transit is that it's not linked to land use. A very American problem that we used to do well a century ago. Look at Japan, Hong Kong. Transit is profitable - it's all about land use.
@lostsubways @metrolosangeles I like what you are doing. Enjoyed your article in ST. Be interesting to have a virtual connect of like minded people re: trans & land use.
@MarketUrbanism This is a tad simplistic.
Pre-COVID, over a billion riders a year rode the subway. In 2019 I read that approx 600 people died from entering the tracks. That’s roughly .0000005 % of riders. Installation of platform doors will cause millions in capital expense and ongoing operating
@YIMBY_Princeton Yes of course. ARC was a decade ago. It would have been cheaper. Christie took the money to fund the depleted State Highway Trust fund. But either way, ARC was heavily flawed. No way to justify Billions on something that does not improve regional connectivity. Go Gateway.
I wrote a blog at Walkable Princeton dot com discussing the different alternatives that NJ Transit advanced today for upgrading transit service along the Princeton 'Dinky' rail corridor. This is the good stuff! Light Rail, BRT, bicycles... https://t.co/zaPUHcgz6c
@YIMBY_Princeton Same here. My daughter did come from school a bit early today (shot last night) tired and with 100.3 temp. She talked about how bad she felt. I said: "try COIVD" :)
