A special KLM repatriation flight, arranged in cooperation with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took off from Kotoka International Airport this afternoon, bringing hundreds of Dutch and EU citizens back home to join their loved ones 🇳🇱 🇬🇭
I retweeted a lot of wonderful messages on todays succesful charterflight from Accra to Amsterdam with some 300 Dutch and other European citizens. Nothing to add to those but I single out the top jobs done by the Ghana government @NAkufoAddo and @KLM to make this happen. Medaase!
Yesterday we passed by Blue Skies Ghana near Nsawan and were as always impressed by this very professional and 'fruitful!' company which every single day brings so much to the economy of Ghana. As you can see we crossed the path of famous Ghanaian music star Kwabena Kwabena!
Today we held the Women in Business Forum in Accra, with hundreds of business women and men participating. Very pleased with H.E. Mrs Samira Bawumia, Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, being the key note speaker. Nr of women entrepreneurs in Ghana is high but more can be done.

Nobody likes #food losses and waste, especially farmers when vegetables go rotten and they lose revenue.
Food transformation can drastically reduce the waste of fresh ingredients as well as diversifies food use and consumption over year-round instead of just seasonally 🥕🌶🥒
My grandparents had very little education. My parents finished high school. I was the first in my extended family to get a PhD. From a village in Bulgaria to CEO of the @worldbank -- this is what possibility looks like! #InheritPossibility

Although the impact of smallholder farmers on global gas emissions is minimal, the impact of climate change-related effects on small-scale farmers and livestock keepers is enormous.

Often asked why I chose to visit #Ghana, I’ve given over 20 reasons. Here are some highlights: for its rich culture, this year celebrating the 400 yr of return; for its leadership of the #SDGs; for its bold stance of “Ghana beyond Aid”; for its peoples, its warmth, its #akwaaba
Women are fundamental to economic and social development. ♀
Despite broad progress in recent years, no country in the world has yet achieved full #genderequality.
The disparities in the rural areas of developing countries are particularly acute.

Multilateral institutions like the @WorldBank & @IMFNews need to work together with governments, private sector & civil society, to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals #SDGs. Esp. at a time when global risks are rising, we need collective action. #WBGMeetings
