Happy to meet @dionbenAGT, wheat breeder from @agtbreeding at #IWC2026 !
We collaborate with AGT on wheat powdery mildew resistance. As climate change increases PM pressure in Australia, developing resistant varieties is even more important.
Excited to support 🇦🇺 breeders!
Australian scientists and breeders invited us to participate in this work @MUniResearch@agtbreeding. I believe it will be of interest to European breeders as well and it may have practical benefits in improving European #wheat.
Research across QLD chickpea paddocks shows how soil mineral nitrogen, seasonal conditions and management influence #chickpea#NitrogenFixation.
The work will help refine inputs, improve nitrogen budgets and boost pulse crop productivity ▶️ https://t.co/5aqmzTqQYy

Although still hate having to do some of these things, thanks to all involved in industry for making the harvest declaration much much easier and also making the self assessment and self declaration much easier for sustainability.

Crop Circle Research Plant Breeding team conducting Time of Sowing research on behalf of AGT in Yuna, WA. Now in its 6th year of generating data for the northern region. As a result of early planting research, the surrounding paddock has been planted to Denison wheat in mid April, filling an early seeding window not generally used for cereal crops and promising a high yield potential. @agtbreeding
New block clean up, rocks ripped out, gullies levelled & stumps gone. Long runs in order despite the steep elevation.
TT canola the perfect first crop after a poor annual pasture, triazines ideal for a clean up.
Big news for Australian pulses! 🌾
Australian Grain Technologies (AGT) has been awarded the national chickpea breeding program following a competitive tender process led by GRDC, taking over from NSW DPIRD.
This is a significant milestone for the industry and reflects AGT’s proven capability to deliver high-performing, commercially relevant genetics that support profitable and sustainable farming systems.
Chickpeas are already a critical crop across northern NSW and Queensland, with pulses continuing to expand across southern regions and WA. As demand grows, so too does the importance of ongoing genetic improvement - particularly around adaptation, reliability and performance in diverse environments.
AGT’s national footprint and established breeding platform position it well to build on over 50 years of chickpea germplasm development. With the program headquartered in Narrabri and supported by work in Western Australia, there’s a clear focus on delivering benefits to growers across the country.
This transition also signals a broader shift towards private sector-led breeding investment, helping ensure long-term innovation and ongoing improvements in this important crop.
Looking forward to seeing how this next chapter drives genetic gain and unlocks further value for Australian grain growers.

🔬 New insights from CCDM reveal infection order matters.
When yellow leaf spot (YLS) infects first, it primes wheat for septoria nodorum blotch (SNB) — but when SNB strikes first, it suppresses YLS.
