@MarkTattam@TheKouk First of all, it helps with saving for a deposit. Second of all, they are paying less for a house if prices fall. Thirdly, it means less stamp duty.
Re: point 3, the median house prices in many capital cities currently exceed the threshold to be exempt from stamp duty.
@TheKouk The data is in, Chalmers' estimate of 4.25% and RBA estimate of 4.5% NAIRU are highly inflationary - and wrong. Labour market is tight - 5% NAIRU. As Bullock said, poor wages growth is a result of a lack of growth in productivity, no thanks to Labor taxing investments more.
@TheKouk The data is in, NAIRU is 5%, as is consensus in mainstream economics. By raising, the RBA is acknowledging their previous estimate at 4.5% is wrong
@TheKouk You posted this. When convenient you say they dont impact house prices (which is laughable). At other times, you say that the RBA needs to cut rates to increase house prices. Both can't be true. When convenient you also post that the RBA mandate does not include house prices.
@RBAInfo The inflation rate has been sustainably above target for approximately 5 years in Australia. It has only been within target for a short period. We are all poorer for it. The RBA loves to signal that they may raise, but they actually dont. Their words dont mean much.
@TheKouk It isnt about what has already been invested. It is about what is invested since the tax changes. Why would I invest in Australia if I can invest in the S&P500 and pay half the tax, they tend to have higher annual returns AND less tax.
@TheKouk Why are you mentioning house prices. The screenshot from the attached economist says in no uncertain terms that the cash rate does not impact house prices. In any event, which part of the RBA mandate requires consideration of house prices?
@TheKouk Hi Kouk,
I am a bit confused. I was told that the cash rate does not impact house prices. See attached screenshot from an economist in February 2026
@peter_tulip The topic is home prices. Not every non-citizen owner is a permanent resident. Overseas home owners homes drive up home prices as do permanent residents. Home prices astronomical for first home buyers.
Separately, decreasing permanent residents = more rentals. Another topic.
@scrowder I bet you think favourably about the founding fathers but have no introspection about why they created a balance of powers. The argument that tariffs are an "emergency" doesn't hold water. Pass tariffs through the legislature.
@Jones_2552@Adam_Bydand@SyeClops@sentdefender Let's break it down retard ๐
'He didnt...until he got called out' is past tense, before the meeting.
'Say thank you', it has been proven he did say thank you befote the meeting.
You must live in an alternate reality.
You also have no substantive response
@Adam_Bydand@SyeClops@sentdefender Oh really shit for brains, please screenshot where you said 'during the meeting' ๐. Does Trump need reassurance every 5 minutes like a toddler?
Speaking of the 'peace agreement', does it contain security guarantees so it is not broken again like the Minsk Agreements?
