@RenobHawk@_AlexGookin Calling it a hit piece was hyperbole. Nothing in her article seemed incorrect, but wording the headline (maybe editorial not her) that way and framing it as a uniquely ISU issue seems disingenuous. U of I grad writing for a U of I reader base & a headline intended to drive clicks
@_AlexGookin It's not like the P4 teams alone were told they had to add a collective $1.4B/yr to their budgets without corresponding revenue, in an industry that is geared around non-profit organizations spending every $ in revenue. But let's single out the in-state rival for a hit piece...
@travisclones That's the overview. There is a lot more "drama" and therioes around the case not necessarily shared in court regarding corruption, a cover up, FBI investigating the PD, cop and judicial bias. Kristina Rex (local reporter) and Goojiepooj on tiktok had good coverage of the case
@travisclones Many of the prosecution witnesses seemed to have conflicts of interest, bias, or inconsistent testimony. Defense had experts that seemed more reliable that pointed to injuries and car damage not matching up with vehicle crash and a doctor saying injuries were an animal attack.
