@GoldwagNathan TFW you think "The Rats In The Walls" is actually pretty good but you can't recommend it to anybody because of the Name of the Cat.
I also like "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward", but maybe I'm just a sucker for Necromancy.
@GoldwagNathan As I recall the horror is that he gets hit in the head with a boat, his face explodes, and then it immediately regenerates as if nothing happened.
@DanMaynardII @IRHotTakes Yeah even within just the context of the original film, the Predator's not a warrior, he's a sportsman. This is his vacation. Look at that fancy little first aid kit he's got!
@ijbailey I for one am simply going to enjoy the irony of Mr. Canceling Of The American Mind saying "for shame" when somebody says something positive about Lenin.
@xeranthe_part More seriously I think Murder Roland also blamed himself intensely for what happened but also resigned himself to the violence and horror of the world he lived in. "I can never be better and neither can anyone else."
@xeranthe_part Vergilius: I bear the weight of my myriad sins, hoping something better will come of it, knowing it never will.
Roland: I'm going to kill so many people today.
@IRHotTakes My only perspective on the Dark Angels is that Lion El'Jonson is a silly, silly name. Granted all the Primarchs have silly aspects to them (Me thinking Magnus the Red was meant to be a badass title and then learning no, he's Literally Red)
@IRHotTakes My only disappointment is that there don't seem to be any Orks. I wanted to try beating an Ork boss and convincing his boys to become my boys because clearly I am the biggest and the toughest despite being a mere humie.
@IRHotTakes Speaking of 40K and RPGs, I'm in the middle of Rogue Trader and it's been fun. It's actually kind of refreshing that the wackiness of the setting really encourages you to commit to the bit.
@ShoNuffKay Literally the first episode of the spinoff "Helluva Boss" describes Hell as being full of "Hitlers and Epsteins". So Hell in this setting does, in fact, have dictators and pedophiles in it.
@caitlinmoriah@nomamao Also hang on a minute is he saying ADHD is the "massive disability" that's been such an obstacle throughout his life? I have ADHD! It's a hassle but it's *not* a "massive disability"! And it doesn't make you obese! What on earth am I looking at?
@caitlinmoriah@nomamao "In expectation I saved on the order of more than millions of lives"
"In expectation" is doing a *lot* of work in that sentence.
Also he spelled "ineffective" incorrectly.
@IRHotTakes Feels like Moore is saying something along the lines of "sure, maybe these comic book characters can't save us from Real Annihilation, but the fact they can act genuinely courageous and selfless is worth something."
@IRHotTakes To me, Moore's view on the potential of superheroes is exemplified by the part in Watchmen where the newspaper salesman tries to shield the young man from the squid explosion with his own body.
@IRHotTakes @GunnerDobbins I used to be kind of mad Ozymandias didn't get beaten up at the end of Watchmen, but honestly him being forced to sit there and stew on the fact his stupid plan probably isn't going to work is the perfect punishment for a guy who bills himself as the world's smartest man.
