Here are a few local athletes which made our Fall Sports watch list. Get out and support these great athletes and teams this season!

AG Gibson - A sophomore midfielder for Cards Soccer. She started 15 games as a freshman, and played in all 18 games. In year 2, we expect to see her on the score sheet a few times this season.

Bailey Haws - A sophomore Cross Country runner for Spalding University. She finished 6th in the SLIAC XC Championships, and will look to lower her times in year 2. Bailey is part of a strong Track and Field team which will compete for a conference title this season.

Tessa Nauert - A senior Volleyball player for Bellarmine University. She led the team in Aces with 26 last year, and appeared in all 26 matches. As a defensive specialist, she was 4th on the team with 201 digs and will add to her career total in her senior season.

The United Soccer League (USL) and its owners have voted to adopt a model of Promotion and Relegation across the USL league structure.

It will be the first professional sports league in the United States to adopt the model which most leagues around the world currently use.

Promotion and Relegation has been supported by American soccer fans as a way to level the playing field with the rest of the world, drive a more competitive product on the field, and support grassroots soccer.

The move by the USL coincides with their announcement of a full Division One lead starting in the 2027-2028 season. This top flight league hopes to directly compete with Major League Soccer as the premier US soccer league.

Full details are still yet to come, but this is the first step in reshaping the soccer landscape across US soccer.

Louisville City FC, which plays in the USL Championship, has won two championships in the league, and the team will be part of this new Promotion and Relegation model once it is implemented.
