This meeting was a part of a research project led by the Alfred Deakin Institute and AIATSIS, with the generous support of the Central Land Council.
Attended by ceremonial leaders from the Arrernte, Alyawarr, Anmatyerr, Luritja, Ngaanyatjara, Pintupi, Pitjantjatjara, and Warumungu language/cultural groups, the group developed and signed a statement to go to overseas museums regarding the care of their sacred objects and

Earlier this month, over 50 Aboriginal men from across Central Australia gathered at Tilmouth Well (Ilewerr) in the Northern Territory to discuss the return of unprovenanced men’s sacred objects from international museums.
