On 1/20/24, #Chicago ratified a 3-year contract with #SecondCity leadership. After 2 full years of bargaining, this chapter is finally closed.
This would not have happened without the support of our students, peers, and the general public. THANK YOU. Unions work.

...Paid prep time, increased protection for intellectual property, succession clause guaranteeing the contract if ZMC sells our company, Span of Day definitions & Content Flexibility Guarantees for facilitators, explicit permissions for outside work, and DEI commitments.
@iftaft
While this is only a first step, there is still much to highlight: immediate pay increase for most faculty/music directors, increases for SecondCityWorks facilitators, backpay for 2023, bonuses tied to enrollment, guaranteed increases for years 2 & 3 of the contract...

Congrats to teachers at the Second City Training Center in Chicago who are members of @AICEunion on their TA for a new union contract. https://t.co/uC7Sg3uTty
This is because of YOU!
After a marathon 11-hour (and 11th-hour) bargaining session with #TheSecondCity leadership, we have an agreement!
We appreciate SC leadership returning to the table, and seeing this through. And it would not have happened without the support of our allies!
“We’re 95% of the way there. They just have to meet to work out the 5 percent, and there’s some big gaps in the outstanding issues,” @AICEunion member Corey Bradberry said.
Second City teachers set deadline for strike that could halt shows there https://t.co/1uwthwKG0e
This is why it’s taken over 700 days to get here. This is why we’re going on strike: #TheSecondCity leadership refuses to acknowledge reality. Why? Is it because their job is to report profits to the private equity board, and people aren’t considered profits?
@iftaft
#SC CEO Ed Wells is fibbing in the press: “31% raise over the agreement’s 3-year term”, when he should say “31% more pay, from a substandard rate, over NINE years: 3 years of the contract plus 6 years of frozen teacher pay since 2018.” Takes the shine off the rose, doesn’t it?
6 days until we go on strike at #TheSecondCity#Chicago.
SC leadership should return to the bargaining table, and agree to a fair first contract.
