A phone is only a limitless gateway if it's smart. Right now, too many Nigerians are relying on basic 2G connections, which restricts their access to the modern digital economy.

At the Digital Africa Summit in Shanghai organized by @GSMA, my focus was clear: we must accelerate the transition from 2G to 3G and 4G networks. A smartphone is no longer a luxury; it is a vital tool that makes education, business, and daily life fundamentally easier and more accessible.

In direct alignment with President @officialABAT’s Renewed Hope agenda, we are actively dismantling the barriers to connectivity through three core pillars:

Zero-Rated Data Initiatives: We are championing zero-rated data frameworks to ensure that Nigerians can access vital educational platforms without burning through their data balance.

Accessible Financing: We are scaling "buy now, pay later" smartphone plans, backed by our robust NIN/BVN identity systems, removing the burden of upfront payments.

Manufacturing at Home: We are pushing for local device manufacturing to bypass FX volatility, lower device costs, and create jobs for our youth.

The innovations on display at #MWC26 were incredible. Now, we are doing the work to ensure every Nigerian can afford to hold that future in their hands.
