@SayersBHAFC Well said Joe, these conversations are not had anywhere near enough. The more open we can be as a society about these issues, the less people suffer in silence. Hope you’re well mate 💙
@Rod__Mason What’s the intended impact, Rod? Or, are you just posting a statistic with no context to attack benefit claimants and feed in to the absolute baseless rhetoric that they are everything wrong with this country?
@SnookerWatcher It’s a good point this. I was saying recently I reckon there’s 20-50 players who don’t get on the tour each year that are generally perceived to be of that standard. Would certainly be interesting to see if this £20k incentive has a big effect on the no of q school entries.
@JustStop_Oil Clever. Let’s ruin a session of snookers blue riband event to try and promote a completely unrelated point and end up making everyone hate you rather than have any sort of sympathy/agreement with your point.
There’s ways to make a point that people will support. This isn’t it.
@marjayhan No, this is the issue. I’m not even disputing your view on gambling sponsorship because I, in large part, concur with your view. if an non-detrimental alternative can be found, great. The game needs that level of investment though and I’m not sure you find it elsewhere.
@marjayhan If phasing sponsorship from that sector out makes sense economically, I’m all for it. Gambling sponsors are used throughout sport and I’d be surprised to see snooker take a different stance at the financial detriment of the players.
@marjayhan So, here’s the decision: we can absolutely hate the existence of gambling sponsors amid issues and want them out or the game, or we appreciate the idea that there are lower ranked pros struggling to make a living and while the £20k loan works, the money has to come from somewhere
@marjayhan I appreciate the sentiment RE gambling sponsors. Unfortunately, the fact is that gambling companies are going to pay more than 99% of companies. 1/2
@joegentlemanjoe@markwil147 @AChungaiz From a scheduling/ticket sales/TV rights point of view, surely the bye makes absolutely no sense? Should be offered to 17th at the cut off point imo. I think the frustration is actually a lack of consistency in similar scenarios
