"DRDO hands over nine tech transfer deals to private sector at VIMARSH":

- *Main event:* Defence Ministry handed over 9 licensing agreements for Transfer of Technology (ToT) to 13 manufacturing partners on Tuesday to enable commercial production of systems developed by different DRDO labs. Handover was done by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

- *Multi-influence ground mine:* Defence PSU Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) will co-produce it with Hyderabad-based Apollo Micro Systems Ltd for Navy to target modern ships and submarines. Both firms had earlier participated in its development by making electronic systems and resistance outer casing.

- *VIMARSH meet:* The handover happened during 'VIMARSH', a DRDO-industry synergy meet. The meet unveiled policy initiatives to lower technical and financial entry barriers for MSMEs and deep-tech start-ups, offer funding, incubation support and dedicated access to DRDO testing facilities - as per MoD statement.

- *Short-range anti-ship missile propellant:* 3 private explosive manufacturers selected - Solar Defence & Aerospace Ltd, Premier Explosives Pvt Ltd and Salvo Industries Pvt Ltd - for production of propellant and igniter for booster and sustainer motors.

- *Semi-active homing laser system:* DRDO selected Ananth Technologies Pvt Ltd and Apollo Micro Systems Ltd for production. This system is widely used in precision-guided munitions like laser-guided bombs, missiles and artillery shells.

- *Heavy drop system:* JCBL Pvt Ltd is among the ToT recipients for heavy drop systems for C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster aircraft operated by IAF. The indigenous 20-tonne heavy drop system developed by DRDO's ADRDE lab was already validated by Army in February - showing companies have advanced in manufacturing.

- *Electronic and wireless systems:* Autotec Systems Pvt Ltd and Accelor Microsystems selected for (a) electronic activation device to program variable delays, air-burst heights or target-specific detonation profiles before launch, and (b) wireless control-cum-actuation system to remotely operate, control and detonate explosive payloads, warheads or demolition devices.

- *Other technologies and partners:* Billwin Industries Ltd and Uflow Automation will manufacture Hydro Suit, Ants Innovations Pvt Ltd for ZnTe Single Crystal Growth for broadband terahertz applications, and Pragati Defence Systems Pvt Ltd as production partner for smart helmets.

- *Defence Minister's assertion:* Singh said DRDO-Industry collaboration should be expanded across the entire value chain - research, design, testing, certification and manufacturing - to transform India into a global hub for defence manufacturing.

- *New frameworks launched:* A standardised, secure framework for sharing DRDO-developed software source codes with licensee industries was launched to accelerate software-defined defence capabilities and obsolescence management. DRDO also signed a contract with Quality Council of India for System for Advance Manufacturing Assessment and Rating (SAMAR) version 2.0 to benchmark manufacturing maturity of domestic defence enterprises.
