been using my personal account ever since I became a fan. finally made an account dedicated for AKMU.
as always, thank you for your hardwork @official_akmu, and take your much needed rest 😊 we, your HAFs, will patiently wait and continuously cheer on your future endeavors.
After you hit rockbottom, you can only go up. I'm glad she overcame it and gained strength from it
Thankful for Chanhyuk too for not leaving her side 🥺
“I’ve always had this thought: why is it that I can never walk side by side with oppa? Not just physically, but in life too. He’s always walking so fast, always ahead of me. I tried so many times to catch up, but it felt like I was going to break myself trying. We can be together for a moment, but matching our pace and walking side by side… that always felt really hard. And it was the same on the pilgrimage.
But as I kept walking, I started to clear my mind and just kept going at my own pace. And when I finally arrived at the Santiago Cathedral, I realized that we were all grouped together under one name: pilgrims who completed the journey. There was no difference between me and oppa. To others, we were simply people who successfully walked this path.
So I used to think that speed was important, and that walking together was what mattered. But even if we walked separately, the path we walked was the same. We always shared the same dinners, and we arrived at the same place in the end. That meant a lot to me.
I think oppa’s role is this: I’m always the one following behind, so I see his back every day. But the person walking ahead doesn’t really look back. Still, just seeing him ahead of me, knowing there’s someone I can follow, that alone plays a really big role in my life. I think it was the same on the Santiago pilgrimage.
“Our 4th Full Album is called FLOWERING (개화). Flowers blooming. We have now bloomed. Sailing was our last album, it carried the keyword of departing, of setting sail. It was also literally a period when we were far away, and it was an album that captured that environment.
Then FLOWERING is about where we arrived after leaving. We’ve now come into Cemter of Inspiration, and as Suhyun went through her slump, it’s about where she settled, where we ended up blooming.
And considering our age, it’s what people call the ‘age of blooming,’ when people say, ‘Whatever you do right now, you’re at a beautiful age.’ So we put into the album the kinds of stories we can tell at this point in our lives.”
“I guess you could call my brother my SAVIOR” - Suhyun
That day he came to my house was truly the day he came to save me, and because he actually succeeded, I think he really can be called my savior. Not just for that moment, but my brother wants me to live happily for the rest of my life. So I also want to live well, as much as he has done for me, for the rest of my life.
WHO’s CUTTING ONIONS HERE 🧅😭❤️
🐰 When I was distancing myself from my family, oppa suggested that we live together. So we started living together, and it became like a full reset for me. Then very slowly, he was like, ‘Since we’re living together anyway, it might be good to exercise together. Let’s try making a meal plan too, it could be fun. It’ll be fun, let’s just try it.’ And instead of ordering delivery, he said, ‘Let’s try cooking for ourselves and live a bit healthier.’ So from the very first day I moved in, he had me do a detox.
🐸Suhyun wasn’t really in a state where she could do anything right away. Before and after filming, she was very drained. She didn’t even really know what to say…
Suhyun talks about how her life shut down for 2 years. “You say you’re fine, but the fact that you keep saying you’re fine is what worries me the most” - Chanhyuk
Suhyun: I started living like a mole. I blocked out all the sunlight and just lived like that. I think I lived that way for about two years. So I had truly given up on the future. There is no future. There is no better future for me. I was in such a state of helplessness, so severe that I couldn’t even gauge how bad I was myself, but my oppa came and talked to me.
“You say you’re fine, but the fact that you keep saying you’re fine is what looks the most dangerous.” He said that, and at the time he gave me a lot of small, gentle suggestions. I thought, if I can live like I used to again, I need to hold onto this. And from that point on, I started actively accepting my brother’s help.
Chanhyuk: I don’t know how you heard it, but I didn’t want to have regrets. Because when I looked 10, 20 years into the future, if I didn’t look after Suhyun now, decades later I felt like she would say, “Oppa, why didn’t you hold onto me back then?” I just saw that future for a moment. I thought, I don’t want to be that kind of person, so…
🐰 At that point, he said, “If I leave you like this, I might not be able to see you anymore.” Not right now, but… “If I keep leaving you like this, and no one takes care of you, someday that kind of future will come.” He said he was scared. That’s what he told me.
😭😭😭😭😭😭
a little tmi abt akmu’s independent label:🤭
AKMU left YG this January 2026 and started their own company called “Cemter of Inspiration,” which literally means a spring where inspiration comes from. Chanhyuk said they chose that name because ever since before debut, even during auditions, he’s constantly been asked, “Where do you get your inspiration from?” and that question never really stopped. So he was like, “Let’s just call the place we’re in the source of inspiration,” since they’re basically always “scooping” ideas from it every day.
What’s funny is how they run it LOL😭 they call their employees “Yeonggam” (Inspiration), meaning people who give them inspiration. Chanhyuk is the “head of the center,” and Suhyun is literally called “Princess.” And yes, their staff actually address her like that in real work situations, like “Princess, I’m contacting you about accounting,” and she replies “Yes, Yeonggam” 🤣🤣
They even introduced their managers as “Go Yeonggam” and “Hwang Yeonggam,” and when asked about company welfare, one of them said at first it felt like a downgrade from their previous job🤣 but after a couple of months, he realized it was actually pretty good, to the point he felt like he could “bet his life” on it. And apparently Suhyun teases them a lot about that HAHAHA
YJS: Joy, Sorrow, A Beautiful Heart (Track#4). Does that mean both joy and sadness are beautiful emotions? What do you mean?
🐸 Yes, something like that. Normally, when joy comes after sadness, it’s natural to accept it as, “Ah, I’ve finally become happy.” But when sadness comes after joy, we tend to fall too deeply into that sadness. We end up distorting those happy moments or even concluding that they weren’t good at all. But when I look back now, I realized that if I felt sad because I experienced happiness, then the value of that happiness is actually proven through that sadness. And all of that is just… so beautiful.
YJS: Hearing that makes me even more curious about the song.
“My brother’s absence was much bigger than I expected (military years). I used to be so confident that even if he wasn’t there, I could fill that gap myself, but I couldn’t even fill a fraction of it. So at first, what hit me the hardest was disappointment in myself. Like, ‘I’m not that capable after all.’ I really hurt myself over it, ‘Is this all I can do?’ I stayed in that state for about a year, struggling like that until he came back.
And then when he returned, I thought everything would be solved. But he was like a racehorse, saying, “I have to do this, I have to do that,’ and his own color became stronger, he had more things he wanted to do, and the fun of doing things together slowly started to disappear. So I said, ‘If I have to keep doing music like this, then I’ll just give up AKMU.’ Singing, producing, performing on stage, none of it felt enjoyable anymore. That’s when I stayed in my room and started living like a hikikomori.”
guys… seriously suhyun’s confession is tearing me apart </3🥹
