At St. Sophia's Cathedral, together with Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer, we summarized today's meetings with our partners.
We discussed the implementation of the agreement on a full ceasefire starting May 12 for at least 30 days, and the strengthening of sanctions against Russia if it rejects it. Particular attention was paid to ensuring effective monitoring of the ceasefire, coordination with the United States, security guarantees for Ukraine, and the further strengthening of our country's defense capabilities.
I thank Keir Starmer for co-leading the Coalition of the Willing and for all his efforts to make cooperation within this format truly effective.
Evil may have its hour, but God will have His day. This is one of the meanings enshrined in the story of Christ. Of His earthly suffering and death – and of His resurrection, and the truth that sooner or later, yet inevitably, evil will retreat, and life will triumph.
That is what we have wanted for all 1,152 days. We are united in this. Every day – and especially today, when Ukrainians of all Christian denominations celebrate Easter on the same date. Together. We fight for Ukraine together. And we pray for Ukraine together.
May evil’s hour end. May the day of life arrive. The day of peace. The day of Ukraine. The day that lasts for centuries. And we will be able to come together again. At one table. On a peaceful Easter.
May all this come true.
May God help us in this.
May there be peace. May there be Ukraine.
Christ is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!
In East Africa, we can scale integrated dairy value chains, expand irrigation systems in drought-prone areas, and strengthen the region's impressive agricultural export corridors for tea, coffee, and horticultural products through the African Development Bank. 🌍
I had a productive call with the President of Finland @alexstubb. As always, full understanding and absolute support. Thank you!
After our meeting at the summit in London, we continue working with our partners on a joint plan for achieving guaranteed peace. Concrete steps, clear positions, and a shared vision are crucial foundations for ending this war.
Finland is making great efforts towards establishing a honest peace. We have aligned our plans for the near future and coordinated our priorities. Peace must become our shared success – Ukraine, the U.S., and all of Europe.
Ukraine is fighting for the normal and safe life it deserves, for a just and reliable peace. We want this war to end. But Russia does not, and continues its aerial terror: over the past week, more than 1,050 attack drones, nearly 1,300 aerial bombs, and more than 20 missiles have been launched at Ukraine to destroy cities and kill people.
Those who seek negotiations do not deliberately strike civilians with ballistic missiles. To force Russia to stop its attacks, we need greater collective strength from the world.
Strengthening our air defense, supporting our army, and ensuring effective security guarantees that will make the return of Russian aggression impossible—this is what we must focus on. Justice must prevail. We believe in the power of unity, and we will certainly restore lasting peace.
London. A meaningful and warm meeting with Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer.
During our talks, we discussed the challenges facing Ukraine and all of Europe, coordination with partners, concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position, and ending the war with a just peace, along with robust security guarantees.
A principled statement of support from the Prime Minister and an important decision: today, in our presence, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Loan Agreement. This loan will enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and will be repaid using revenues from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be directed toward weapons production in Ukraine. This is true justice – the one who started the war must be the one to pay.
I thank the people and government of the United Kingdom for their tremendous support from the very beginning of this war. We are happy to have such strategic partners and to share the same vision of what a secure future should look like for all.

António Guterres: The world must never forget that Africa is the victim of two colossal and compounding injustices. First, the profound impact of colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade…It is high time for repertory justice frameworks to be put in place.
