I am so excited to announce the book I created is finally here!
Being a #mom is hard. Mom Has to Poop is here as a beautiful reminder that moms need to meet their own basic needs, too. ๐ฉ๐ฅช๐ด๐ซ
Proudly written, designed, and printed in Canada ๐จ๐ฆ!

Today I returned to the home page of @BiophysCanada and saw the smiling & familiar face of @nr_forde.
Biophysics is a community of incredible researchers spanning all disciplines & pushing the limits of human knowledge. I hope more students learn it exists this #biophysicsweek
Happy #BiophysicsWeek!
Fun fact: when I was in Gr 12 I discovered the @BiophysCanada website and learned there is actually a field for people who love the predictability of physics & are fascinated by the complexity of biology.
What happened next? Thread:
I decided I had to move to BC for grad school and fortunately found a home with @DavidASivak at @SFUPhysics.
Despite never coding in Python before, I found myself writing simulations of ATP synthase: the most incredible machine on Earth.
@amil This piece really resonated with me, thanks for putting into words what often feels undefinable: the numbness and caution that overshadow pandemic parenting.
This isn't some weird flex. Genuinely want to know how people keep up with all these movies.
Then again I've averaged 8 hours of sleep a night since I was 15 including through three uni degrees so that's probably my answer ๐ด
Thought I'd get caught up on some "recent" movies I've heard are good.
Hit play on La La Land and was faced with the shocking reality that I haven't sat down and chilled since 2016.
Happy to share our paper, "Long-term predictions of humoral immunity after two doses of BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 vaccines based on dosage, age and sex" is now up on the medRxiv! https://t.co/FEm3dpmxWg
@BenDavisPurcell I too am disappointed that for centuries women weren't recognized for their contributions to science.
But I optimisticly believe the Nobel Prize award demographics represent where we were, not where we're going ๐ง๐พโ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฟโ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ฌ๐งโ๐ฌ๐
So my CTA: celebrate your colleagues, friends, family, and complete strangers on their accomplishment and their journey.
And leave space for their whole story to shine through, not just what box they tick on their ID forms.
I believe in a world where an impressive person can be equally inspirational to youngsters of all genders.
How do we get there? Probably NOT:
โPointing out a woman is female every time she succeeds
โShaming successful men for being male
Some thoughts โคต๏ธ
What if it was normal for women to win things? To be recognized as leaders in their field? To found companies, run for office, or build the next revolutionary technology?
In that world we wouldn't keep stopping to exclaim "and she's a woman!".
Living with a 92 year old is like being on a 24/7 game show.
Today's lunch time challenge: reset the email password before the hackers that just changed it mess things up. Oh and you have to use an iPad and finish your sandwich before your next meeting. GO!
@SioenAli @morrymom @EVYSTADIUM Got the same message first time. I just refreshed the page, tried to access my first vaccine record (which worked), went back to the 2nd and it worked.
Two things that have no place in my home:
โ๏ธClothes that aren't machine washable.
โ๏ธMugs that aren't microwavable.
Come on, makers of things, it's 2021!
A smart man knows that hormonal fluctuations throughout the menstrual cycle can affect a woman's emotions.
A wise man knows to never ask a woman if their menstrual cycle is affecting their current emotional state.
Fortunately I married a wise man. @ChapinKorosec
