The exceptionally high inflation rate could see many more #localgov staff affected by the annual allowance limit - something we will work on with @UNISONinLG@GMB_union & others @themjcouk@lgcplus
@NHSuk pension scheme is different to #localgov but many staff are caught by the annual allowance, which was cut from £50k to £40k in 2014 & has since been frozen. Looking forward to @LGAWorkforce@LGAcomms calling for Government to treat #localgov no differently from #NHS staff
Sorry that we have been away for a while on @Twitter. We are back! The remainder of 2022 promises to be interesting, with some big issues including how we react to @LGAWorkforce's pay offer and the application of TUPE to all district council staff in reorganised counties.
The request was made to @ukhomeoffice and we pointed out the (to us, obvious) reasons why the guidance does not apply to staff of PCCs. It really should not have taken this long to confirm that we were right!
While we would have hoped for a quicker reply than the 7+ weeks it has taken, we're pleased that @hmtreasury has confirmed that its guidance on special severance payments does not apply to staff employed by Police and Crime Commissioners @AssocPCCs@APAC2E
We're very disappointed that the #localgov employers are not treating chief executives (and chief officers) in the same way as other #localgov staff. We will comment more fully when we have seen the employers' explanation for the differential treatment. @LGAWorkforce
Interesting @hmtreasury guidance. Doesn't apply to #localgov, which is not mentioned from start to finish and is not part of central government. Councils are autonomous bodies, not subject to @hmtreasury diktat. COUNCILS SHOULD IGNORE IT. https://t.co/RjSAmkoOAV
We respect Colin Copus' strong advocacy for #localgov and its autonomy. However we feel there are several angles in this article that miss the mark. Codes of conduct exist to ensure that councillors conduct themselves appropriately when on #localgov business.
Colin Copus @dmuleicester makes the case for codes of conduct for councillors to be localised rather than nationalised, and says only voters should be able to remove members from office.

#localgov
#localgov staff & others need the code of conduct so allegations can be investigated & councillors held to account (disciplinary processes exist for staff if they did or said similar things).
