Haiti play their first men's World Cup game for 52 years on Saturday. These fans are ready 🇭🇹
Just qualifying was remarkable, given the difficulties faced by a team unable to play at home. May the tournament be a moment of joy and hope for Haiti 💙
@babe_whatswrong@violentfemz@halderbag@dlai_ Black people were making noise, punk, and experimental music long before smartphones even existed lol. You’re historically illiterate.
Death (before the Ramones), Pure Hell (1974), Bad Brains (DC hardcore pioneers, 1976), etc.
So yeah, we’ll stick to every genre AND rap :p
@davidmdraiman You grew up listening to Reggae as well as Reggaeton music as inspirations to you. Names such as Steel Pulse, Eddy Grant, Bob Marley and Bad Brains. I was gonna say The Clash and the Detroit punk band Death. Heavy music like Wax Trax. Industrious, industrial music.
See these guys? They started punk rock. It wasn't the racist Sex Pistols. It wasn't The Ramones. Definitely wasn't The Velvet Underground.
It was DEATH. Back in 1971.
Black people started music. From Blues to Rock n Roll to my favourite genre, Punk.
Yes you heard me right.
All respect for Death bc they’re legitimately ahead of their time but it’s so funny to say “definitely wasn’t The Velvet Underground” and then name a band that came after them
You could argue The MC5 was the first Detroit punk band, but Death's sound was more punk. If you mean The Stooges, that's Ann Arbor. I'm not even arguing Death was the first punk band, but they definitely deserve their stripes because For the Whole World to See is an incredible album.
