Young Democrats of America condemn blatant disenfranchisement of young people by the Alabama Democratic Party and remain in solidaritywith abolished Disability and LGBTQ+ Caucuses.
We, the @TheDemocrats , are a big tent party – our diversity is our strength, but According to the bylaws that we voted on today,it would appear that here in Alabama, we are more focused on exclusion than inclusion.
Our organization and our caucuses stand against the blatant abuse of power by the Alabama Democratic Party. This decision disregards what makes our party so strong, our diversity. Our caucuses enrich us. They must immediately reverse course.

Thank you @harrisonjaime. You are absolutely right about Democrats’ commitment to giving everyone an opportunity and a voice. Through the efforts of so many we were able to achieve that in 2019. But the new leadership of the Alabama Democratic Party has rejected that by shrinking our “big tent” considerably. They do not speak for or represent the overwhelming majority of Alabama Democrats.
Democrats are fighting to protect our democracy & expand opportunity for all Americans. To do so we must lead by example.
Allegations surrounding Alabama's state party meeting are troubling. I'm grateful to those who raised concerns & we're looking closely into the situation.
(1) Today, the Alabama Democratic Party voted to get rid of all caucuses, which would effectively remove guaranteed voting representation for many marginalized groups within the Party. There are many allegations that this vote was done without quorum being reached.
(4) We hope that the @DNC will investigate these claims, because Alabamians of all backgrounds and identities deserve representation in the Party. No matter what the future holds, Alabama College Democrats will not stop fighting for an inclusive, accessible, and progressive AL.
At least two members of the @ALCollegeDems were refused credentials at today's meeting. This is unacceptable, they are elected members of the Youth Caucus. They voted in the past meetings but today suddenly a $50 dollar fee, stripped them of their seat.
The Chair said there were 63 votes for and 49 against the proposed bylaws.members are calling for a roll call vote.
The picture on the left is members for the proposed bylaws.

A member told me she did not receive any email or notifications about the $50 fee.
One faction is calling for the meeting to be adjourned. The Chair told @TabithaK that she was out of order when she asked, "are they elected members or are they not?"
.@aldemocrats are feuding over the proposed bylaws, which would eliminate the youth, LGBTQ+, and disabled caucuses and give the Chair the sole power to appoint new committees. There are voting members outside who are told they can't come in because they didn't pay a $50 fee.
Alabama College Democrats is disturbed and appalled at the elimination of the youth, LGBTQ+, disabled, Hispanic, AAPI, and many other caucuses today by the Alabama Democratic Party under chairman Randy Kelley. This is not progression, this is silencing the diversity of Alabama.
