IRAN VOWS RETALIATION AGAINST AMERICA

Iran has vowed to retaliate after the United States announced a new wave of sanctions targeting around 60 individuals, entities and vessels linked to Iran’s military, oil and financial networks.

The White House is also threatening to exclude countries that continue doing business with Iran from the U.S. dollar-based financial system.

Iranian officials have warned that any country helping to enforce the new sanctions would face retaliation.

The IRGC has also threatened U.S. interests and energy chokepoints if Iran’s infrastructure is attacked.

My take is that Iran has several ways to respond. First, it will try to ensure the #StraitOfHormuz remains closed.

Tehran could try to make sure nobody else can safely export their oil in the region by targeting regional infrastructure and disrupting Gulf #energy routes.

Iran could escalate further by attacking American bases and positions in the Gulf.

If Iran follows through, it would be a very long week for the Middle East.
