Few years back, where I worked as a security guard, robbers came to rob and I was arrested and detained for 2 weeks. When I finally got out, I lost my job and became homeless because I was only doing night shifts.

I went to my church, Winners Chapel (Glory House, Igando), where I used to share fliers every day. I met the pastor and explained everything. He told me to attend service at Canaan Land first.

Bro, I was literally smelling. I just wanted to bathe and eat. 😭 I still went to Canaan Land smelling, hoping someone would help me. After service, the pastor’s only advice was that I should go back to the village.

Another pastor told me I hadn’t been a member for up to a year. They didn’t even let me sleep in the church.

I was homeless for months. That experience broke something in me. I no fit enter church again, bro. Not in this life.

This also takes me back to my friend, who came to my house in 2015 to borrow my Toyota Matrix 2005, so he could visit his then-fiancée's mother, in the suburbs of Ikorodu.

When he returned, my car was faulty, even though I had given it to him in good condition. I called mechanics and consulted almost every expert I could find, but nobody could fix it for three weeks. It wasn't until we employed the services of a car diagnostic engineer that we discovered it was a brain box problem.

Throughout this period, which lasted almost a month, he didn't call or ask what was wrong with the car he had borrowed. I paid for everything myself, and eventually got a new brainbox.

I was only pissed off because he didn't call to show any concern. I called and told him I wasn't happy about that. Even after I fixed it, a few months later, he still borrowed it for his introduction ceremony, and I didn't decline.

Kindness and human investment are the greatest forms of investment. They can yield returns that even Dangote's IPO shares may not match. If you keep getting it clear, keep using it to clear road for people who are in dire needs around you, without expecting nothing in return.

Sometimes, the people you help when they have nothing are the same people who remember you when they have everything.
