This WR is a heck of an athlete and probably the best WR in the entire section. He was awarded Player of the Game for his performance last Saturday.

The Merced Breakfast Lions Club presented the third annual Merced County flag football all star game on Saturday, June 13th, and what an exciting game it was!
Teams from all over the area including El Capitan High, Le Grand High, Merced High, Patterson High, Pitman High, Los Banos High, Mariposa High, Livingston High, and many others, competed in what is quickly becoming a fun summer tradition for the Merced area.

The 3rd annual Merced County all-star football game was held today at Golden Valley High School. The game featured athletes from Mariposa, Patterson, Turlock, Hilmar, Los Banos, Summerville, Delhi, Sonora, Atwater, and many other schools.
The South, led by El Capitan's Xavier Ramirez, defeated the North, led by Hilmar's Frank Marquez, by a score of 22-13.
El Capitan's Anthony Jones was the South's Player of the Game. He scored two touchdowns to help lead the South over the North.
Merced High's Vicente Cortez tossed three touchdown passes for the South including two to Jones and one to Hayden Czirban.

Looks like the El Capitan Gauchos lost a close one today in the opening round of the NorCal baseball regional tournament.
The Alameda Hornets defeated the El Capitan Gauchos by a score of 5-4. The Gauchos made it interesting in the 6th with the tying run on second base, but the Hornets escaped the jam and were able to advance to the next round.
El Capitan played well all postseason. Every game was exciting from start to finish. Good season, El Cap.
The Merced Bears tennis team had quite a season this year. To say it was memorable would be an understatement.

Whoa! After a few singles by the Gauchos and a few errors by Manteca, El Capitan has busted things open in the 5th inning, scoring 6 runs and sealing the game 11-0 after the Mercy Rule was triggered in the bottom of the 5th inning. Final Score Gauchos 11, Buffaloes 0.

PLAYOFF UPDATE: The El Capitan Gauchos, hosting the Manteca Buffaloes for game 2 of the SJS D3 semifinals, are up 4-0 in the bottom of the 4th behind starting pitcher Benny Centeno who's allowed 1 hit through four innings.
The Gauchos will advance to the section finals if they win.

El Capitan High wins Game 1 of the Sac Joaquin D3 Semifinals by defeating the Manteca High Buffaloes 3-0. Starting pitcher for the Gauchos, Matt Mcquillen, pitched 6 shutout innings, collecting the win. While Brennan Casey collects his second save of the postseason.
Holy cow, the Gauchos are playing some fine baseball. Through three playoff games this postseason, the Gauchos pitchers have thrown 20 innings and given up 2 runs.
Gauchos infielder Noah Ruiz is 6-10 at the plate in three postseason games so far.
Next up for the Gauchos, they will host Manteca High for game two at El capitan High on Thursday, May 14th.
