What an emotional few days! Students went to Tesco to buy the drinks for Prom, and they all had a great time! Then today we had our Leavers’ Day! We are so proud of our students and are excited to see what they will go on to achieve in life! @AbbotsLeaSchool
The students in Christmas Island class practised their customer service skills in their Employability lesson. They participated in a range role play scenarios, demonstrating good and bad customer service, sharing how they would do it better next time! @AbbotsLeaSchool
A cohort of students from @ALS_KS4 and @ALS_KS5 were part of a focus group today to share their experiences of travel and feedback how improvements can be made for them accessing public transport in the future! Thanks for inviting us to take part! @AbbotsLeaSchool
Another one of our Supported Interns, Callum, has also been working at Liverpool Women’s Hospital this year within the maintenance team and has been excellent! Learning new skills and has secured a job elsewhere such is the confidence he has gained this year! @AbbotsLeaSchool

During their work experience placement at Speke hall, some of our students planted different plants and transported and distributed bark around the area to help the plants to grow. @AbbotsLeaSchool
Our Music Accredited Learning group have really improved their guitar skills this term! Gaining confidence to identify chords and strum to simple songs, they have been working towards playing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’. @AbbotsLeaSchool
In their English lesson, Christmas Island class began reading Great Expectations. They also discussed different books written by Charles Dickens and watched a trailer of the live action series of the book before reading it, taking it in turns to read. @AbbotsLeaSchool
Malawi students used @DekkoComics today to support their understanding of figures of speech during their English lesson. They also watched some vintage Batman clips to see how onomatopoeia has been used over time! @AbbotsLeaSchool

The snowy weather didn’t deter Malawi class from enjoying their PE lesson today participating in a Boccia tournament. They also had to ensure measurements were accurate and that scores were kept to eventually crown the winner! @AbbotsLeaSchool

Fiji class had a great visit to @KnowsleyCollege this week as part of their transition preparation! They had a tour of the campus and heard more about the courses they offer

We held a transition event this afternoon to support our students and families to consider their options for when they leave @AbbotsLeaSchool.
It was great to have a number of local providers with us to share information about their setting and offer transition support.
Malawi students enjoyed reading exerts from ‘Tall Story’ written by Candy Gourlay today as part of their Literacy in Colour focus for World Book Day! They created comic strips to retell the story, highlighting the cultural references they came across. @AbbotsLeaSchool
@ALS_KS4 and @ALS_KS5 students learnt how to tune a guitar today in their Music lesson, they also learnt key information about the strings and an acronym to remember the chords! @AbbotsLeaSchool
Malawi students learnt the rules and format of Boccia today in their PE lesson, before putting what they learnt into practice by participating in a Boccia tournament! @AbbotsLeaSchool
Christmas Island class enjoyed visiting Knowsley College this week. They heard about the different course options available and had a tour of the campus. They then engaged in conversations about their options when they leave @AbbotsLeaSchool
As part of #NAW2023, KS5 students enjoyed asking questions to our Apprentices @AbbotsLeaSchool, curious about their roles and the what they enjoy about them! They have really enjoyed this week finding out more about Apprenticeships!
