Working with Norfolk County farmers to convert marginal farmland into flourishing areas providing ecosystem services for all Canadians. [email protected]
This week @ALUSNorfolk had a site visit to a tallgrass prairie project that was recently regenerated with the help of a prescribed burn.
Kudos to the awesome ALUS Norfolk team, Cynthia Tosswill, Chloe Cridland and Anita Buehner (L:R, second image).

Last year was unlike any other, and we want to thank everyone involved in ALUS by sharing a snapshot of the progress we made despite the historic challenges presented by 2020. Thank you for making a positive impact! https://t.co/IftVNyBJNp #environment#farming#pollinators
Wow! Seeing the joy in our participants is incredible! This pond was expanded to better support wildlife, and the surrounding spoils will be planted with native veg including pollinator species. This project would not be possible without funding from Ontario Trillium Foundation.
It’s finally happening!
Since we have bought the farm two years ago we have been working with @ALUSNorfolk to rework the irrigation pond into a wetland.
Here is your Sunday Night Long Read! Canadian research finds that #shelterbelts can help create a three per cent yield increase in adjacent crop production. Evidence continues to prove the benefits of using marginal land for habitat. Read more here:
