Windows users looking to generate .htpasswd entries, try this:
docker run --rm httpd:2.4 htpasswd -nb <username> <password>

It fires up a temporary Apache container, encrypts a password for any user/password pair you pick, and prints it out. While Linux has native options, this Docker method is a quick, clean fix for Windows to set up HTTP Basic Auth.
