Languages evolve —
dialects shift, vowels drift,
meanings melt like lies in flame,
twisting truth and turning names
But when 2025 rewrites truth,
when peace wears a soldier’s boot
and terrorism is freedom's cry —
we will not bow, we will not comply!

Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future. To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks. Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture. We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.

Enough is enough. No more US military aid to Israel.
An historic day today, Alhamdolillah.
Pakistan has cemented its place as a peacemaker, and Inshallah as world leaders convene for peace talks this Jumma Mubarak, we shall continue our efforts for negotiating a lasting peace to the region, Inshallah.
After battling the scourge of militancy, and taking on Talibans both Afghan and Pakistani, we are redefining our global identity
This has been possible due to a strong civil and military collaboration. A collaboration that has recently brought us responding success against Indian aggression, and now has brokered a ceasefire and a diplomatic initiative bringing warring countries on together for negotiations in Islamabad.
A nation’s prayers are with PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, that we may find success in these initiatives, Inshallah.
Pakistan Zindabad 🇵🇰!
How Pakistan made the world over 3 trillion dollars richer
On April 7, the world edged toward Trump's 8pm ultimatum that "a whole civilization will die tonight." By mid-afternoon, Polymarket gave less than a 5% chance for a ceasefire. But then in a flurry of last-minute diplomacy led by Pakistan's PM Shehbaz Sharif, ceasefire odds shifted from near-impossibility to 100%, as both U.S. and Iranian leadership publicly acknowledged the important role played by Pakistan.
The sharp shift in probability of ceasefire from near-zero to certainty, allows us to estimate cleanly the market value of Pakistan's successful diplomacy. There was a sharp jump of 2.9% in S&P500 around the ceasefire announcement. The reaction was similar the world over.
Global markets represent about $125T, so a 2.9% jump represents a gain of 3.6 trillion dollars for the world. Pakistan helped create TEN times its own GDP for the world!
For me, the best part is not the trillions of dollar, but seeing Pakistan on the world stage as a peace maker.
I hope Pakistan runs with this new identity by promoting peace not only abroad, but also at home. That means moving away from politics of division and exclusion, and treating every citizen as its own.
We hold this statement on Pakistan's passport as a badge of honour. We do not recognize Israel and could not care less about the feelings of its genocidal leaders. We will always stand with Iran, Palestine and Lebanon against the terrorist Zionist entity, inshAllah.
Explanation of Vote by Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad,
Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN,
After the Security Council Vote on Draft Resolution on the Strait of Hormuz
(7 April 2026)
********
President,
At the outset, let me reiterate Pakistan’s continued and unwavering support and complete solidarity in these challenging times with the brotherly Kingdom of Bahrain and other fraternal GCC countries – the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Oman as well as Jordan; countries that are not parties to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, but are directly suffering from its consequences. Pakistan supports the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and security of all brotherly countries in the region.
2. The Strait of Hormuz is an important international shipping route for goods and energy. Pakistan calls for the security of ships and crew members, and the swift and safe passage of civilian ships, and restoration of normal passage through the Strait.
3. The situation in the Strait of Hormuz is adversely impacting countries around the world including Pakistan. The consequences for regional and global economy are evidently harsh, and ordinary Pakistanis are suffering. South Asia, that is home to nearly a quarter of world population, is suffering. The ongoing situation in the Strait of Hormuz has resulted in one of the largest energy supply shocks in modern history. The impact is felt not only in terms of energy flows but also fertilizers and other essential commodities thus affecting food security, cost of living and squeezing the livelihood of the most vulnerable. If the military escalation and disruptions persist, the suffering will extend far beyond the region, translating into widespread economic hardship.
President,
4. We thank Bahrain for their hard work and extensive consultations on the draft resolution. We agree on the urgency of the situation and the fundamental premise of the draft resolution – which is the re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz and normalization of the situation at the earliest. This is an important issue not only for the GCC countries but also for all other States in the region and beyond, including Pakistan. It is also logical that any discussion or arrangement related to the Strait of Hormuz will have to take into account the legitimate interests of the GCC countries. Pakistan supported resolution 2817 that was presented by Bahrain on behalf of the GCC last month. We have consistently maintained that that resolution should be implemented in letter and spirit.
5. However, we continue to believe that time and space must be allowed for ongoing diplomatic efforts to facilitate a return to dialogue and engagement. These efforts have been widely acknowledged and appreciated, including by the UN Secretary-General and members of this Council.
6. We would continue seeking a durable diplomatic solution of the prevailing situation. This is the fundamental foundation of our ongoing diplomatic efforts, which we are determined to continue to pursue.
7. At this critical juncture, restraint, diplomacy and dialogue must prevail. Pakistan has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts towards that end in concert with its partners in the region and beyond. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, hosted the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in Islamabad last week to advance the pursuit of a peaceful resolution of the ongoing crisis through intensified diplomatic engagement.
8. After the Deputy Prime Minister’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China, in Beijing last week, China and Pakistan announced a five-point initiative with a sequenced roadmap encapsulating an immediate halt to hostilities; launch of inclusive peace talks; protection of civilians and critical infrastructure; restoration of maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz; and a firm reaffirmation of the UN Charter and international law as the indispensable framework for a lasting political settlement.
President,
9. Our objective is clear - a permanent end to hostilities, containing the expansion of this conflict and preventing any further loss of civilian life or destruction of critical infrastructure.
10. Pakistan remains committed to continue playing its constructive role in promoting dialogue, fostering understanding, and supporting all efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
I thank you.
