Poor decision-making at Red Tractor has been driven by a culture of secrecy and a refusal to accept criticism that stretches back years, according to insiders, writes @FWAbiKay.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time today at @SuffolkShow chatting with so many different people in the local #farming community.
Our farming schemes support farmers like those I met today, ensuring #food production and environmental protection go hand-in-hand.
Are we heading for a UK potato shortage?
📌Mid May, compared to April planting reduces yield potential by 13-15%
📌Speculated that the UK potato area is 100,000ha
🟰Lowest UK potato tonnage?

@anotherlastword And it’s not just electricity, wholesale fuel is in a similar place, and has been for a while. Forecourt operators have been guilty of holding retail prices high….
Well said @BeaumontRobert the sad thing is that people will read this diatribe & think it’s true.
Another bad example from @BBCNews & their take on farming.
Argentine wheat harvest hit by severe El Nina drought. Down to possible 10mt from 23mt last year. Soya & maize impacted too - planting delays due to lack of soil moisture & no rain forecast after 3 months of drought. Country could be down 30-40mt on original season 120mt forecast
Yes am afraid so @SuellaBraverman come to some of our farmers businesses across spectrum of UK fruit and veg production and see what is actually involved and the innovation taking place to provide sustainable, nutritious, competitive year round food supply for the nation.
Reality of massive costs of production increases can't be ignored. If @the_brc members want fruit and veg committed for 2023, substantial price rises are needed and a "force majeure" supplement for 2022 - or growers simply won't be there.
It's official. Today has been the hottest day ever recorded in the UK and what a swelterer it has been! The good news is that at sunrise this morning, despite the record temperatures ahead, our harvest of mint was well underway! A huge thank you to our amazing team 👍

You would have hoped that a Surrey based fly fishing organisation who claim great environmental credentials could have avoided cutting the river banks until June. Apparently the environment only matters if it doesn’t affect your fishing
At least somebody recognises the seriousness of the situation!
He might say it sounds apocalyptic while I would say he is just raising realistic concerns about the very real risk to food price inflation and availability. https://t.co/DhwrO0s0xA
Fischer Farms £25m vertical farming facility taking shape on the FEP Norwich @enterprise_food Phase 1 of the 100 acre Enterprise Zoned site has planning consent for food/drink manufacture & distribution and is shovel ready. Circa £50m invested on site; adding value to UK produce
"Government does not expect any significant direct impact on UK food supply." I've read this sentence a few times & I'm amazed. A shock the scale of what's happening in Ukraine will reverberate in every food system around the world. We're all connected. https://t.co/lKazgrRKu3
