The WMO Regional Office for Africa joined the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute (EMI) to mark World Meteorological Day 2026, calling for stronger investment in observation systems and climate services and highlighting their critical role in lives and livelihoods across Africa.
WMO Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Agnes Kijazi, Director of WMO RA I, paid a courtesy call to Kenya’s PR with WMO, Mr. Edward Muriuki, during her official visit to Nairobi. The two discussed how to build and strengthen Kenya's capacity to provide climate services.

#WMO met with the Minister responsible for Meteorology and the 2nd Vice Chair of #AMCOMET, and thanked #Ghana for support and contributions to regional capacity-building. The Minister reaffirmed commitment to modernizing GMet and the integrated strategy on Meteorology for EW4All.
