Europe’s digital agenda should support investment 📈
During the @Ireland2026eu, the EU should focus on a more harmonised Digital Single Market, risk-based regulation and rules that remain open to international interoperability 🌐
That is how Europe can strengthen its digital economy without limiting access to the technologies businesses need 💻

The Digital Networks Act is an opportunity to support businesses operating across borders and strengthen Europe’s Digital Single Market.
By simplifying rules, improving legal certainty and supporting investment in next-generation networks, the framework can help advance Europe’s digital transition.
To deliver, it should avoid additional complexity, ensure clear scope and remain aligned with existing EU cybersecurity rules.

Meta’s open-source Canopy Height Maps helped improve the European Commission’s 2020 Global Forest Cover map 🌲
Developed with the World Resources Institute, the tool uses AI to estimate tree height from satellite imagery, helping distinguish forests from other tree-covered land 🛰️
By supporting more accurate forest monitoring, @Meta's technology shows how open-source AI and public-private collaboration can help Europe advance its climate and biodiversity goals 🤝

Together with nine other associations, AmCham EU has signed a joint statement on the evaluation of the Single-Use Plastic Directive (SUPD), calling on EU institutions to avoid reopening the Directive.
A revision at this stage would create uncertainty for operators and deepen fragmentation across the Single Market. The EU should focus on implementation before considering changes to the framework.

The EU needs an approach that strengthens industrial competitiveness, supports decarbonisation and gives businesses certainty.
That starts with clarity on how ‘European preference’ is designed. The IAA should provide clarity about which countries qualify as part of the ‘Made with Europe’ approach and strengthen Europe’s resilience and security without creating uncertainty for companies or undermining confidence in Europe as a place to invest.

How can Europe prepare its workforce for the age of AI?
Today AmCham EU hosted a roundtable on advancing skills for Europe’s AI transition. Members and policymakers discussed how AI is changing roles across sectors and how we can close the skills gap.
As AI becomes part of everyday work, Europe must strengthen its skills base to support competitiveness and prepare people for the future of work.
Thanks to Mario Nava and Idoia Mendia for joining the discussion, as well as our members who joined

A celebration of history and partnership.
AmCham EU was pleased to join the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, alongside so many partners and friends dedicated to the transatlantic community.
The evening was a reminder of the enduring strength of the EU-US relationship and why it continues to matter for prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic.
Thank you to the organisers @USAmbToBelgium, @US2EU and @USNATO for such a memorable occasion.
Simplification is moving, but the EU still needs a mindset shift.
Omnibus I, the Chemicals Omnibus and the AI Omnibus show that the EU institutions can reduce regulatory burdens while maintaining Europe’s policy objectives.
But the real test is whether simplification becomes part of how Europe makes rules from the start. That means avoiding unnecessary regulatory overlap and making sure new proposals are workable for companies operating across borders.

The Tech Sovereignty Package takes positive steps on energy resilience, but its cloud provisions could create significant legal uncertainty for businesses operating in Europe.
Resilience matters. But it must be built on secure technologies, customer choice, trusted partners and objective, risk-based rules – not origin alone.

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) continues to test whether the EU can address carbon leakage while keeping investment in Europe.
Before scope extension is considered, the mechanism should work in practice. Moving too soon could add costs and affect value chains, with consequences for investment and trade.
EU legislators should avoid adding uncertainty to CBAM through rules that could suspend. They should also extend the proposed safeguards beyond 2027.
Learn how to shape the CBAM so it prevents carbon leakage while maintaining competitiveness https://t.co/IELs47nByI
