@nytimesbooks “Read Like the Wind” has led me to many great books. But the recent recommendation of Green for Danger is crummy, given the words “ pickaninny” and another, worse slur are used. Did the reviewer not read it?
@DanWuori One thing I notice and find repellent is how many parents laugh AT their child. Some are clearly amused and laugh playfully, but others, including these are laughing at. It’s shaming and gross.
@BeschlossDC Yes. My fourth grade class listened as the principal announced that the president had been shot. We were sent home, where the tv droned on.
