@CeliaRichards0n Looking through the election booklet, there don't seem to be the contentious member motions there have been in the past - are Restore Trust giving up? I note some of the candidates do appear influenced by RT's agenda.
@sovietvisuals My son loves both chess and cats so this would be perfect for him, but unfortunately the shipping costs are prohibitive! I didn't realise you weren't in Europe.
@RestIsPolitics@RoryStewartUK@campbellclaret Maybe too late but possibly one for next week - how might it be possible to place greater levels of constraint on US presidential executive power in future? I'm aghast that he can just DO all this in the way a British monarch or prime minister couldn't.
Re Squid Game etc, there are great translators out there and surely poor subtitling doesn't help a show's international reputation (though plenty still watch, clearly). But the budget for good subtitling often seems not to be there, even for very expensive programmes.
@restisents enjoying your New Year's Eve episode. I'd love to hear you two do a deep dive into subtitles, both translated and otherwise - currently viewers are poorly served at times. Currently watching All Creatures Great & Small on channel 5 app and the subs are terrible...
@isabeltransl8s Missed this at the time - I am a fan, to the point that I immediately know at what point this song was sung, and has indeed wondered! What a beautiful voice she has.
Turning to @BBCRadio3 for a while. Having hugely scaled back my presence I now don't think I can in all conscience remain on this platform under current ownership. Shame the alternatives are so fragmented. Cat is blissfully oblivious of human politics.
@maitlis Absolutely not interested in Johnson's view of all this, so I'm not tempted to stick with you guys, sorry. Your earrings are magnificent, though.
@LevParikian Lovely. My childhood cat (who had little brain and was also a bit mean, but we didn't know that when we got him) was called Huckle, because of our Scarry books.
@Rosenkrantz Oh bugger, hope you feel better soon. I have had something that certainly felt like COVID, though a test early on was negative (then I ran out of tests). It's dragged on, more or less better now though.
@timothymachin @RhonddaBryant@britishmuseum@NationalGallery I went for free courtesy of the French government (either as an educator or under-26, I forget which) when I was on the British Council assistantship scheme.
@covparkranger@coventrycc Nice work! The swans seem to be doing really well this year - last time I looked there were ten, including last year's two cygnets I think.
@nickrosenthal Similar findings in Germany earlier this year - a different experience from a few years ago when things seemed more expensive in the euro zone.
@agbtm@operalastnight@ClassicalMusic_ Whatever the reasons for the assault, it definitely happened (he has apologised) and he is now undermining the organisation he founded. That is as worthy of comment as any performance.
