🟢 My favourite part of attending the Melbourne Grand Prix?
Everyone clapping for Lance on his final lap thinking it was George Russell about to win the race.
🟢 Watanabe on the Honda engine:
Only once the car runs on track will we have a full - understanding of whether the countermeasures are effective.
So, certain limitations will be applied to the power unit operation this week.
"But more than that, everyone else had been working on their CFD & general layout & mechanical layout way, way, way before us"
"We've started on the back foot, we'll do our best to catch up"
🟢 When asked by Sky whether Aston Martin’s late start on the 2026 regs would hurt the team, Newey said:
"It's bound to, to be perfectly honest. We got into the tunnel mid / late April opposed to 2nd Jan for everyone else." 1/2
🟢Fernando Alonso on the Barcelona Test
"We found things to improve from Barcelona to Bahrain. Some things are just pure comfort things, in the driving cockpit, seat, feet
There's more things that we need to investigate deeper or improve the cooling or improve the vibrations"
🟢 Adrian Newey on the AMR26:
"I think we (Lawrence Stroll & Newey) were both quite close to having a tear in our eye because it has been a long emotional, passionate journey to get it to Barcelona"
🟢According to Planet F1, Andy Cowell is set to leave Aston Martin.
He will stop working as the Chief Strategy Officer in June 2026 and will be on gardening leave until later this year.
"Without having a technical partner and fuel supplier with Aramco's expertise, Honda's development of the power unit would be restricted and that, in turn, would restrict us."
"The work Aramco are doing is going to stand us in very good stead."
🟢 Adrian Newey on the importance of Aramco:
"Aramco are absolutely pivotal for us here because of how they develop fuel, as are Valvoline, which is developing the oil, to suit the work Honda is doing and are a big part of a very complicated, but very important, equation."
"Some of the appendages – wings, bodywork, things that can be changed in season – will hopefully have development potential."

🟢 Adrian Newey on the AMR26's development potential
"What you want to try to avoid is a car that comes out quite optimised within its window but lacks a lot of development potential."
"We've tried to do the opposite, which is why we've really focused on the fundamentals."

@Nachez98 This shouldn’t be taken seriously because 1), it’s a shakedown test and 2) Sky aren’t very good at predicting the pecking order - 2025 1st day of testing they said Aston would be 5th fastest team. Come the 3rd day of testing they got it right (9th)
