I can't describe what we went through yesterday… the fear, the shock, the awful scenarios running through our minds.
Each one of us was at the airport, living through those terrifying moments. With tears in my eyes, I looked at people's faces, desperately searching for some comfort, some sign that everyone was okay, that no one had been harmed.
I kept asking, “My daughter is inside. I want to see her.”
Some of the female staff took my hand and led me downstairs, trying to calm me down but I couldn't leave my husband. They kept reassuring me that my daughter would come out and that I shouldn't worry.
I kept asking my husband, “Did anyone die? Is anyone injured?”
He didn't know. No one knew.
Two hours of waiting… two hours that felt like an eternity.
I could see the way people looked at me. I think they could see the fear in my eyes. I stopped crying when I noticed a little boy looking at me with tears in his eyes. It broke my heart, and I felt so sorry for him.
And we kept waiting…
Until finally, she called us to say she was out and waiting in the car park.
I think I raced towards her. All I wanted was to hug her tightly and ask her, “Are you okay? Did you see it? Was anyone injured?”
She was supposed to be at her house yesterday, but she couldn't make it. And now, I don't even know when she will be able to get there…
Yesterday reminded me of how helpless we can be when the people we love are in danger and all we can do is wait, pray, and hope to hear their voices again.
Nothing matters more than knowing that the people you love are safe. Nothing...
