EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN VISITS AGBOJU MARKET, DIRECTS TRADERS TO VACATE DRAINAGE SETBACKS, STRENGTHENS ENVIRONMENTAL AND SECURITY MEASURES
As part of ongoing efforts to prevent flooding, improve environmental sanitation, and enhance public safety, the Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, paid a working visit to Agboju Market, where he engaged traders operating along drainage channels and other unauthorized structures within the market.
The Chairman, who was accompanied by the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Ibrahim Balogun, appealed to traders occupying drainage setbacks to immediately vacate the areas. Beyond environmental concerns, Prince Sanusi also expressed serious concern over the presence of unidentified individuals residing within the market premises. He directed that such occupants vacate the area, noting that the indiscriminate use of market spaces as residential shelters poses security risks and undermines efforts to maintain a safe and orderly environment for traders, residents, and visitors.
The Chairman reiterated that environmental cleanliness and community security are shared responsibilities, urging traders and residents to cooperate with the Local Government by keeping drainage channels free from obstruction and ensuring that public spaces are used only for their intended purposes.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive environmental management and measures aimed at promoting a cleaner, safer, and more resilient Amuwo-Odofin.
