With Everything going on in the world your children may be frightened/anxious about what they hear on the news.
I know I've had many chats about Covid and now the kids are talking about World War Three.
Here is a useful guide to help:

I actually like myself.
I know many adults are the same. So can we make a change? Can we start the chat with children? Can we check in that they actually like who they are and help them see what amazing people we see?
Lets start the convo! #childrensmentalhealth#confidence
I haven't posted in a while but yesterday I had an experience that made me pause and think:
When working with a group of P5s I asked them to write down what they like about themselves.
3 out of 5 told me straight away "Nothing, I don't like myself"
I had tears, tantrums and complete avoidance of the question. They coloured and chatted about other things. They asked could they do this about someone else as that was easier.
I do this exercise alot and many children struggle to like themselves, to have the confidence to say:
I listened to this song from Jamie the musical ! This is a perfect way to describe the impact words have on us! On our children ! How one little thing can plant a seed of doubt that grows into a wall! Lets help our children learn to overcome their walls!

As part of #TimeToTalkDay 2021 @seemescotland are encouraging us to have a small conservation about mental health. These can be really effective! Throughout the school day we regularly have chat with kids, parents and staff about mental health. Some conversations are about
Feeling/emotions, some about mental health in general. Some about the impact of covid or curre t situations. We can find a simple way to discuss mental health without it feeling overwhelming or feeling taboo. Its about just starting the conversation and knowing your audience.
This is what we need to teach our kids! To let go and talk about their problems!
Actually If we could all learn this! Our world would be such a better place :)

The invisible string story is so important for children right now. This story highlights that we are all attached by an invisible string of love! Even when we are apart the love is still around! @AvenueEndPS@CranhillP#love#Invisiblestring#StayConnected
