I was at an event related to the Girl Scouts tonight, and someone mentioned the Cornell rape and the organization’s response. I just checked it out and I think it’s pretty excellent. I hope you will take the time to read it and consider it.
Wow nasty!

AP: Cornell, Jane Doe was “misled” about the status of the criminal investigation in the weeks after she went to police, her lawyer said.
“She was told it was still — they weren’t going to prosecute, but they were still investigating,” Giuffra said. ”I was involved with this case early on. I thought they were still investigating. It was news to me that they weren’t doing anything.”
Here's more. It's for the tax deduction:
"Under the rules that took effect last week, charities controlled by wealthy people—with Treasury Department approval—can put individual stocks into the accounts of thousands or millions of children. They can target groups of at least 5,000, sorted by age, geography or both.
Other contributions—from parents, employers and the federal government—must be cash that gets invested in low-cost index funds. Stock donations, however, generally can’t be sold for five years under the rules. Children and parents have no power to refuse donations, though the administration is fielding comments on whether it should let people opt out of Trump Accounts."
There's always a catch with Trump! I wrote earlier in the week that the Trump regime had unilaterally signed up tens of millions of children for Trump accounts, even if parents did not want the accounts.
But what are they getting now?
"The catch? Children and their parents can’t pick the stocks or reject donated shares, and they can’t sell for five years.
Before last week, Trump Accounts were a novel, optional index-fund investment for children with about seven million sign-ups. The government was seeding newborns’ accounts with $1,000. Employers were pledging contributions to workers’ children. Philanthropists such as Michael and Susan Dell were making cash donations.
Now, after the Treasury Department turned on auto-enrollment and enabled stock donations, Trump Accounts look entirely different."

This line really stuck with me. I think we are all exhausted, and the sequel is even more awful.
“People are tired,” Al Pscholka, a Republican and a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives, said of Mr. Trump. “The whole divider-in-chief thing, it’s gotten to the point where it’s just exhausting.”
I gifted this so you can read it.

ABC News reported that AI defense company Anduril Industries, a company in which Donald Jr.’s 1789 Capital has a major investment, was awarded a multi-billion deal announced by Trump on Tuesday, and had been awarded 135 other contracts with the government.
The analysis found that defense companies backed by Donald Jr. and Eric, including Vulcan Elements, Firehawk Aeropace and PsiQuantum, had been awarded more than $6 billion in active or promised government contracts, since the two invested in the companies.

With Moskowitz (D, FL-25) going to Leans D, our best guess at GOP net gains from redistricting is now just 2-5 seats, with the range b/c of Toss-up Dems Castor (FL-14), Davis (NC-1), and Kaptur (OH-9).
"Survivors of sexual abuse, students and advocates will hold walkouts, rallies and vigils in communities and on college campuses in more than 40 states on Oct. 8 in response to Cornell University’s handling of allegationsthat a student was gang-raped by fraternity members in 2024.

So something very not normal happened yesterday, a broken norm, and I wanted to share it with you all.
When I compile The Weekly List, I check EVERY major news outlet for stories that indicate broken norms. One yesterday was the top story at @ABC News, obviously a trust news source, about companies that Trump's sons Donald Jr. and Eric backed getting government contracts. It's a story I have covered for the list already with reporting on some of the companies mentioned, like Vulcan Elements.
Also in this week's list, was a story about ABC News' lawsuit with the FCC, and their claim in court that FCC Chair threatening to revoke their license was like having their head "in a guillotine," and had already impacted their pre-midterms coverage.
The story about Trump's sons was widely shared on X. ABC News posted it there, along with an image. Then this morning, I noticed the link to the story was dead. It's basically an error message when you hit the link, "OOPS! PAGE UNAVAILABLE" with no explanation. You can find the story down my feed from yesterday morning when it broke.
So the question is, what happened? And why did ABC News, a major broadcaster feel compelled to take down the story without explanation? This is not normal!
