True, in the context of real life 25 mil a year is still insane money. I was more so speaking just in the NBA world. As much as I like Kessler for example, can’t feel good if you’re Duren seeing him get paid over 30 million a year after you just made all NBA third team and was an all star player at 22
I don’t know the future so I can’t say that for certain he will. All I know is the present, and the present says Luka specifically requested for this type of center and the Lakers went and got him. One can only conclude that this acquisition at the very least helps the chances of Luka sticking around. Luka also wanted Austin on the team. That was one of the first reports to come out right after the LA was eliminated by OKC. You said LA is championship or bust every season right? Well one of the other things LA is known for is keeping their superstars happy. If Luka believes Austin helps him compete for a championship and they clearly get along well personally, the Lakers were not going to sign and trade him
Then get ready to keep being disappointed for more seasons than not. You can say it was championship or bust in the past but in this new NBA that’s not the case. Have you seen a team repeat since the 2017-2018 Warriors? Every year it’s been a new team and if you’re going to sit here and say that you honestly thought LA would win a championship with those rosters from 2022 until now, then you clearly don’t understand what a title contending roster looks like.
It’s so funny how ignorant people like you just resort to calling everything “excuses” because you’re too ignorant to understand how to apply context and nuance to a situation. Lakers don’t have to win the championship next season, but to think the move for Kessler specifically was not a step in the right direction is delusional.
@Neelothatnga@LukaUpdates It’s been too long. Playoff Luka on the road is the greatest show on Earth. Nothing better than him torching the other team while talking his shit to the fans.
Those are not excuses. If you want to choose to be ignorant then that’s on you man. You clearly aren’t able to distinguish when teams are sitting a player for tanking purposes and when that player is actually hurt. I’ll come back to this reply when the lakers in fact do make the playoffs.
What does this reply prove? You completely ignored my rebuttal to your point about him being injury prone and just showed a screenshot about what you already said with the ESPN Bet point. If ESPN is your go to source for how good a team is then you’ve got some catching up to do old timer
Again, if you really look into it, him missing time seems to be more of a product of the Jazz tanking. They’ve done the same to Lauri and he was their star player. Making up random injuries to withhold them from games or benching starters in the second half for no reason. When did ESPN Bet become the barometer for a championship team? They’re the same company who put out a graphic protecting Jake Laravia to be in the starting lineup somehow.
@Hyperbaly@AM570LASports@AllenSliwa And you think that’s the norm for him? Playing 5 games? He probably could’ve came back and played more but the Jazz had no reason as they were clearly tanking.
@Bishop_d0nJuan@AM570LASports@AllenSliwa The elite rim protectors know how to play the ball and take away the pass/lob. That’s usually what makes a center capable of playing drop coverage at the highest level which is probably what the Lakers will run more of now.
@KeithSmithNBA Good take Keith. I never understood being all dom and gloom when it comes to sports. We all should be optimistic for the positive outcome while also being able to acknowledge that some decisions are bad.
