My speculation: CRS may hover around 512–525 over the next 8 months 📊
CEC draws could drop to 1,000–2,000 ITAs
👉 If you’re CEC-focused: boost your score NOW or lock a Plan B
👉 If you’re targeting occupation-based draws: you may ignore this

Bill C-3, An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (2025), has come into force, updating the first-generation limit to citizenship for people born or adopted abroad: https://t.co/tncN6m9ZJg
This bill
• restores or provides access to citizenship to people born abroad to or adopted abroad by a Canadian parent before December 15, 2025
• going forward, will allow citizenship to be passed on beyond the first generation if the Canadian parent born or adopted abroad meets specific eligibility criteria
No one will lose Canadian citizenship because of this new law, but citizenship can be voluntarily given up through a renunciation process.

We see that #IRCC Sri Lanka has refused many SOWP Applications yesterday.
This is sad, but we’re going to assess this situation before we retain new clients / reapply.
We will let you know about next steps within a week of time.
Thank you,

Seneca Polytechnic is temporarily closing its Markham campus due to a significant drop in international student enrollment, driven by recent federal cuts to study permits. Programs will shift to other campuses by 2025.

📢 Important Update for International Students!
If you submitted your study permit application before November 1, 2024, the field of study requirement does not apply to your Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)! 📚✨
If you are applying for Study Permit after Nov 1, 2024, you must graduate from a program linked to certain occupations in long-term shortage to be eligible for PGWP.

An IRCC officer may made a surprising error by sending out only 500 invitations instead of the intended 5000, which has led to a significant rise in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score to 539.
This unexpected shift 510 -> 539 has left many hopeful applicants in shock, 🤯

🚨 Canada’s immigration backlog has reached nearly 1.1 million for the first time since November 2022, largely due to a surge in temporary residence applications, including TRVs, study permits, and work permits. This is a significant challenge for the system!

‼️ This is my speculation.‼️
🔔 International students currently studying in Canada 🇨🇦 will maintain their eligibility for the PGWP regardless of their program of study, as usual. (This includes study permit extensions and second programs.)
🚨 According to a few college partners, students applying for a study permit after November 1st, 2024 (from outside Canada), may only be eligible for the PGWP if their program meets a nationally identified labor need. The list of eligible programs will be announced later this fall in 2024.

@CitImmCanada is also limiting work permit eligibility, later this year, to spouses of master’s degree students whose program is at least 16 months in duration.
This is expected to result in 50,000 fewer spousal work permits being issued over the next three years.
